Informatica PIM 7.1 is following this idea consequently with its new features and improvements. The new data quality dashboard provides a comprehensive overview on the quality and status of your data according to the quality rules defined in general or specific to your output channels. It allows a fast drill down to the particular areas of problem. The channel previews, no longer only provide a view on how your data will look like in the context of the certain output channel. Now the data is also directly editable in it. This provides a unique way of envisioning, validation and mastering product data. Informatica BPM - Business Process Management can control the process from data onboarding to omnichannel output. With this business process management enterprise workflows for PIM (running DQ validations, performing automated data cleansing and distributing task) and beyond can be created. A now verified IBM WebSphere Commerce accelerator makes the integration into the latest version of IBM’s WCS much easier and allows delta updates scheduled as well as particular updates on demand. The Informatica GDSN Accelerator additionally simplifies the connection to GS1 based GDSN data pools. Many more new features and improvements are provided with PIM 7.1 which strengthens the approach of high quality data onboarding and improves the user experience. Find all the details in the following release notes. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 3 2 PIM Desktop Informatica GDSN Accelerator (Informatica B2B and PIM) The GS1 Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) provides a powerful environment for secure and continuous synchronisation of accurate data between trading partners who have access to a GDSN certified data pool. Manufacturers and Suppliers have now the capability to ensure their data is not only of high quality but also confirms to GS1 standards. The Informatica GDSN accelerator offers the possibility to provide this high quality data directly to a certified data pool for synchronisation with their trading partners. The quality of the data can be ensured by the Data Quality rules engine of the PIM system. It leverages the GPC hierarchy that conforms to GS1 standards for communication with the data pools. All GDSN related activities is encapsulated within PIM can be initiated from there it self.. The product data can easily be transferred to the data pool and released to a specific trading partner or made public for all recipients of a Target Market. The solution offers great flexibility to map item attribute to/from the GDSN standard and can be tailored to the needs of the customer requiring industry specific or optional fields. The accelerator will be available in Q3/2014 and will be based on Informatica PIM and the Informatica B2B tools. . 4 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 IBM WebSphere Commerce Accelerator Informatica PIM has officially been recognized as a verified solution for IBM WebSphere Commerce Version 7 FP7. The commerce accelerator supports the new IBM attribute dictionary model that enables reduced maintenance and reuse across multiple products. When a common attribute in the dictionary is changed it is reflected in the attribute for all products in the catalog thereby simplifying the process of keeping attribute names and values consistent across a commerce site. It also enables a commerce site to provide complex search, filter and product comparison capabilities which helps provide enhanced service to the customer. The accelerator can be used to simplify and expedite the implementation of common use cases by providing support for hierarchies, descriptions, media assets pricing information, marketing associations and attributes out of the box. The built in data quality module and the preview templates of the PIM application ensures the quality, envisioning of the product on how it would display on the commerce site to take the appropriate action and conformity of the data which is transferred to the commerce site. Different export scenarios pertaining to full catalog, delta or the possibility to trigger the publication of selected products instantly with just a click are supported. Overall it helps improve operations by providing sophisticated capabilities to manage products and catalogs to deliver a seamless, cross-channel shopping experience for commerce. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 5 Editable Multichannel Previews The multichannel preview functionality of Informatica PIM enables users to envision products in the context of a particular output channel (e.g. web shop or mobile) even before publishing it. With the release of Informatica PIM 7.1 this has been taken a step further allowing the data maintenance directly in the context of the channel preview. With this "What You See Is What You Get" experience data maintenance becomes an easy task for light and management users who are interested in seeing directly how the products will be displayed, e.g. for correction or approval workflows. In PIM Desktop it can be centrally defined which fields should be editable in a preview, allowing a focused user guidance. PIM Desktop Enhancements With 7.1 it is possible to provide a more collaborative way to work with tasks. The users can not only see their own task or tasks assigned to their user group but also see what their team members are currently working on. This requires an additional right "Show tasks of all users of assigned user group". Also the merge results have been improved. The user has now access to the new, unchanged, or updated items of the merge process; in addition he can access the items which have been rejected because of insufficient data quality. For administrative users a performance analysis has been added for exports. Here it is possible to have detailed information which parts of the export took a particular amount of time with the possibility to drill down even to see the execution of single functions. Also the export editor shows the field identifier which simplifies the creation of an export template by providing the certainty to select the right field. 6 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 Informatica Data Quality Integration Maintain Standardization Dictionaries in PIM Desktop UI It is now possible to maintain standardization dictionaries through the PIM Desktop UI to enable a central management of synonym and correction values for data quality rules in order to realize consistent data standards for product data. A standardization dictionary that is maintained through the PIM Desktop UI may exist of either one or two columns. The integrated Data Quality module of PIM can work with such reference data in order to use look up checks that will search for a specific key value. The values can then be used to match e.g. a standardization value or reference other values stored in that same row. One example is a standardization dictionary for color values. If a data quality rule takes the value of the attribute “Color” (sky blue) as an input the system can check this against the dictionary to look up the standardized value for that particular color (blue). Usage scenarios like manufacturer name standardizations or market specific glossaries are other examples. Standardization Dictionaries can be imported through the file based import of PIM as well as when importing data quality rules. After updating the values of a dictionary it can be synchronized through the UI in order to make the changes effective for the next execution of a data quality rule. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 7 Enhanced Triggers for DQ Rule Execution It is now possible to add the purpose of an import mapping to an Import Completed data quality trigger configuration. This allows setting up one central trigger for automated data quality rule executions based on whether the import was executed in context of the Supplier Portal, a hot folder or manual user actions. Additionally an Export Started trigger has been added to the standard set of Data Quality triggers. This allows defining that all data that is about to be exported through a specific PIM Export Profile has to be valid in context of the defined rules for that trigger configuration. Otherwise the data set will be rejected from its export. Auto-Assignment of PIM Fields to Input and Output Ports of DQ Rules It is now possible to assign PIM fields input ports or output ports used by a data quality rule. This enables that all the ports that contain such meta information will be automatically assigned to the corresponding PIM field when selecting a rule through the PIM Desktop UI. The definition which general data type of PIM should be pre-selected for the input ports and which one for the output ports is set in the rule description using the Informatica Developer UI (rule design environment): <Entity identifier for Input Ports>|< Entity identifier for Output Ports >|<Actual Rule Description> (e.g. ArticleStructureMap|Article|This rule makes some structure checks) Now it is possible to define for each of the ports the corresponding repository name of the PIM field in a similar way: <Repository name of the PIM field>|<Actual Port Description Text> (e.g. <Article.ShortDescription(9)>|This rule makes checks on the short description of an item) Set Free Text Values as Input Parameter of a DQ Rule With PIM 7.1 it is now possible to set a static string value for an input port of a data quality rule configuration in PIM. This enables to work with variables when building rules and leads to a higher level of flexibility. One example might be a check length rule that takes a string value as an input port that defines the size limit of the field to be validated. This size limit can then be set individually and per rule configuration in the PIM Desktop UI. Access Root Entity Fields from Sub Entity Level on Rule Configuration When setting the data type for an input or output port of a data quality rule to a sub-entity (e.g. attributes of a product) it is now possible to assign fields from the parent object (e.g. the product itself) as well as from its sub entity to the ports of that rule. This allows setting up rules that enumerate over an individual number of sub entity objects of a PIM object while still being able to access the data fields of the parent object. Performance Improvements By enhancing caching algorithms for the execution of data quality rules the overall system performance has been improved significantly. 8 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 DQ Rule Package Four new data quality rules have been added to the PIM rule package. Check for missing Attributes of a Product Check that products have attributes for all features defined by their assigned structure group Resulting status message in case of an error [Structuresystem], [Structuregroup], Feature [Feature]: There is no attribute assigned. Example: Consumer Electronics,HD TVs, Feature 'Resolution': There is no attribute assigned. Check for Data Type violations of an Attribute Check that the data type of an attribute is the same as the one of the assigned feature or at least a character string Resulting status message in case of an error [Structuresystem], [Structuregroup], Feature [Feature]: The data type [AttributeDataType] of attribute [Attribute] does not match the assigned feature data type (FeatureDataType). Example: Consumer Electronics,HD TVs, Feature 'Resolution':The data type (Logical value) of attribute 'Resolution' does not match the assigned feature data type (Range). Check for mandatory but missing Attribute Values Check that attributes have values if assigned to a feature that is defined as mandatory Resulting status message in case of an error [Structuresystem], [Structuregroup], Feature [Feature]: The mandatory value [Language] of attribute [Attribute] is missing. Example: Consumer Electronics, HD TVs, Feature 'Resolution': The mandatory value (English) of attribute 'Resolution' is missing. Check for Preset Value Violations of an Attribute Value Check that the value of an attribute matches the defined preset values of the feature it is assigned to Resulting status message in case of an error [[Structuresystem], [Structuregroup], Feature [Feature]: The value [AttributeValue] ([Language], [IdentifierOfTheValue] of attribute [Attribute] does not match the preset values. Example: Consumer Electronics, HD TVs, Feature 'Resolution': The value 'NoResolution' ('English',[DEFAULT] of attribute 'Resolution' does not match the preset values. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 9 Informatica Business Process Management Integration In the new release, the integration of Informatica PIM with Informatica Business Process Management (BPM) takes the first step in tackling the issue of blending the defined business process within PIM as part of the enterprise business process for supplier management, new product introduction and onboarding, product maintenance, marketing and price management to name a few. It enables companies in providing better visibility of their business as it relates to product innovation and management across the enterprise thereby improving time to market, cut down silos, optimizes processes where applicable. A defined business process for example onboarding of new items as illustrated below can be modeled in Informatica BPM. 10 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 Process Modeled in Informatica BPM Some of the new capabilities of the integration are • Availability of Task API’s - Task management Rest API’s is now enabled. Now PIM tasks can now be created/updated/deleted externally from other applications such as Informatica BPM. • Trigger external applications – PIM can call external applications like Informatica BPM using Rest API, thereby enabling PIM to be part of overall enterprise process. • Import every PIM entity by Rest API – Informatica BPM can import all Product related entities using Rest API • Execution of Data Quality rules - Data Quality rules defined within PIM can be executed from Informatica BPM to enforce quality standards. • Enforcement of Business Rules – Informatica BPM can trigger/execute defined business rules as part of the process once a task is completed and needs to decide the next step of action. • Merge Operations by REST - Once an Item has gone through the business process and is ready to be put in the Master catalog, Informatica BPM can now execute the merge operation. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 11 3 PIM Web Editable Multichannel Previews With the new version it is possible to edit directly inside the channel previews, which has been introduced in PIM Web with Version 7.0.03. This gives the user an even more integrated experience and more efficiency in data maintenance. The responsible product manager can see how the product would appear in a specific output channel i.e. in the web shop or on the mobile commerce site and can change descriptions, attributes, prices etc. directly in context of this visualized target channel. He can give its approval by simply changing the status. A work flow could be triggered by the approval and send the respective data directly to the output channel e.g. to the web shop. 12 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 The preview templates are based on export format templates and are stored in PIM Desktop. It is possible to handle single as well as multi item previews. All available fields can be used building up the templates and any CSS-Style to preview the channels. Fields get editable by adding in the export template a specific function in front of it. Existing templates can be easily modified to make them editable. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 13 Informatica Data Quality Integration Data Quality Dashboard for PIM Web The PIM Web UI has been extended by a Data Quality Dashboard. The Dashboard gives users an aggregated view on the quality of the product data by visualizing all results of data quality rule executions at a glance. All metrics presented through the dashboard are based on status information from data quality rule executions against the selected objects. The pie chart combines the quality status of each object presented in the main table of PIM Web across all data quality channels the user has selected. The widget to the right shows the combined data quality status per channel and allows drilling down to the rule results defined for each of them. All elements of the dashboard may be used to filter and drill down into sub sets of the overall data set which enables powerful analysis and data mastering capabilities. By this the user is able to quickly identify the sub set of objects among thousands that needs to be fixed given by the rule status (e.g. drill down to the ten items that haven’t yet been classified from the 10,000 I just see on my dashboard). Some of the major business use cases in that context are: Data stewards are able to fix large amounts of data by having a dashboard that guides them through the data sub sets that need to be improved Management gets quick access to an overview regarding the constitution of the product data in context of a given catalog, assortment or taxonomy/structure(group) Suppliers are able to see how good the information they have been providing is matching the requirements of the PIM company like completeness and richness Supplier managers from the PIM company have quick access to a quality overview regarding the data that came from different suppliers 14 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 Execute Data Quality Checks in PIM Web It is now possible to execute data quality rules through the PIM Web UI. This enables the manual execution of one or a group of data quality rules against any number of objects stored in PIM. Access detailed Data Quality Status Information in PIM Web With PIM 7.1 the user may now access details on each of the results of the different data quality executions per object via the new Quality Status tab. This tab lists all data quality statuses available per object in one table just as the Quality Status view in the PIM Desktop UI. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 15 Visualize Data Quality Statuses Information inside the Main Table of PIM Web The new version of PIM web allows adding quality status information as a new field to the main table of the UI. This is done by adding the fields that should be visible for the users to the article.listmodel.xml or product.listmodel.xml configuration file for PIM Web. The following shows an example of how the main table has been extended to also show the quality status per object for the web shop data quality channel: <field identifier="Article.Status" sortable="true" caption="Status Web Shop"> <transitionField identifier="QualityStatusSummary.Status"> <logicalKey identifier="StatusSummaryType.LK.Channel" value="Web shop"/> </transitionField> </field> 16 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 Enhanced Navigation Paradigm With the help of clickable links the navigation paradigm has been enhanced to ease the navigation between products, variants and items. It is more obvious what parent-child relations do exist and easy to switch between the different entities. A new color coding for the different entities emphasizes this once again. It is possible to configure different colors for the entities affecting the table header and entity icons in the references detail tab. Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 17 Improvements in Task Management In the area of task management the new version offers some minor improvements. The user can now decide if they want to create a new task or add objects to an existing static task. Furthermore a new task node was generally introduced, which groups all tasks of the user of my user group(s). 18 Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 4 Supplier Portal Media Asset Validation on Upload By leveraging the workflow capabilities of Informatica Media Manager it is now possible to define data quality checks for media assets that have been uploaded to PIM by suppliers. The workflow can be set up depending on individual needs and data policies. Some examples are file type checks, minimum resolution or check on size and dimensions. If a workflow for media assets provided through the supplier portal has been created the results of the checks are presented to the supplier in the protocol after the upload has finished. There are three basic log levels that can be used: Info Log a general message to the upload protocol Warning Log a message to the upload protocol and flag the asset Error Log a message to the upload protocol and deny the import of that asset to the Supplier Catalog Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 19 The following picture shows an example workflow created with the Informatica Media Manager that ensures that all pictures uploaded by a supplier 20 are either in a jpeg or png based format have at least a resolution of 72 dpi have a minimum width and height of 2 inch Informatica PIM – Release Notes – Version 7.1 Supplier Portal SDK The new Supplier Portal SDK can be used to programmatically extend and customize the Supplier Portal functionality. However, it is not required for simple customization use cases like changing CSS styles, mail templates and others. It consists of the following parts: Supplier Portal Binaries DEV-ready configuration (H2 database, mocked PIM Server, disabled e-mail functionality) Compatible JDK and Tomcat Customization Samples and Examples Samples available with this first Release Workflow Customization Sample Integration of external registration workflow During registration more than the standard user and organization data may be required, e.g. organization address data The first step of approving a self-registered user is not done in Supplier Portal but by an administrator in an external system UI Customization Sample Additional navigation bar entry and access to external supplier data Show and edit supplier data from an external system directly inside Supplier Portal Add navigation bar entry to access the external page External Authentication Sample Log in for suppliers using their Salesforce account A supplier can use the Salesforce account that has been given to him by the PIM company During first login he needs to confirm that Supplier Portal will access some of the account information from him After the first log in the minimal set of needed account information is created in Supplier Portal. All things that can be used from the Salesforce account will still be accessed from there for the actual login Improved Deployment Several maintenance and optimization tasks have been realized to improve the overall deployment capabilities of the Supplier Portal. Administrators can now configure where language packs are loaded from (e.g. external file folder) Administrators can now configure where email templates are loaded from (e.g. external file folder) A connection and performance check allows quick in browser testing of availability of the web server and detailed information like bandwidth and latency through the UI Informatica PIM - Release Notes – Version 7.1 21 Activate/Deactivate Portal Access for Supplier Organizations With PIM 7.1 it is now possible to deactivate a supplier organization as a whole to prevent any of its users to log in. This can be done either by (un)checking the box in the Supplier Details perspective of the portal or by setting the supplier account active/inactive in the PIM Desktop UI. Deactivating a Supplier Organization will update the Active flag of the account on the PIM Server. Item Editor now embedded in the Supplier Portal UI With PIM 7.1 it is possible to embed the item editor for online data access.
