vehic les . Meanwhile, there is n o a n e w
m a intenance system to replace th e o l d s y s tem .
T h e m a intenance is not mandatory now.

3.3. T h e future plan
U n d e r Law on road traffic (dated J u n e 29, 2001
o f National A s s e m b ly, proclaimed by Vietnam
P res ident o n J u ly 12, 2001, enforcement o n
J a n u a ry 1, 2002), quality of vehicles will be
maintain e d d u ring perio d b e tween consecutive
ins p e c tio n times . S o V ietnam Register p lans to
develop a res e a rc h p rojec t to evaluate the
ability of periodical maintenance for vehicles
in V ietnam in 2004. If s u c c e s s ful, the
maintenance will be possible starting from
2006 ./.
