Objective : responsible use of
antimicrobials (antibiotics), supported
by all stakeholders
Set up a monitoring system on the use
of medication in animal production
By 2020 : reduce antimicrobial usage in
animal production by 50% versus 2011
Responsible use of antimicrobials

Farm level management : moisture control, ventillation, housing,..
Biosecurity : litter mangement, water management,...
Veterinarian : gradually evolves towards a “consultant” at farm
level
Feed & nutrition : digestibility & absorption of nutrients, preventive
gut health management
Note : for diseased animal a treatment with antibiotics is certainly
needed

Conclusion : broiler performances
Before 2007 : industry indicated that ban of AGP’s would negatively impact profitability
Today : through a multifactorial approach, AGP’s have been successfully removed from feed &
reductions in antiobiotic use at farm level have been made possible
