However, the experience and accomplishments of these professionals often go unnoticed. To help recognize the contributions and achievements of these individuals, American Eurocopter has developed two programs: the Maintenance Technician Award and the Significant Accomplishment Recognition. American Eurocopter has developed the Maintenance Technician Award as a way to help recognize the experience and responsibility of the technicians who keep your Eurocopter aircraft flying. The award applies to the maintenance experience with Eurocopter helicopters and is based on a number of factors that can be found in the American Eurocopter Maintenance Award Brochure here. To nominate a maintenance technician for an award, the Director of Maintenance (or other appropriate manager) should submit a letter with the following details. As per AMM 05-24-00, 6-1 check pre Mod 07-2819 collective lever and pilot/copilot cyclic tubes using a magnet as noted. If the lever or tubes are magnetic mark with letter “M” (for magnetic) and keep in service. lever is more complicated and a few things need mentioning. If you look at the INDOC AS350 B3 IPC 76-30-11-01 you will find collective assembly post Mod 07-2819, but if you order it, there is a long lead time for delivery. If the lever or tubes are not magnetic you have 2 options: The other option is to order (1) each P/N 350A27-3170-09 Stick Semi Equipped (photo below) not listed in the IPC and (1) each P/N 350A27-316120 Tube Protection listed in the IPC. 1. Check the lever or the tubes using hardness test as described in the AMM 05-24-00, 6-1. If they pass (good) keep in service. (Note: Contact AEC Technical support department for lab information to comply with hardness test). You will need to contact AEC Technical Support Department for an aircraft serial number specific technical agreement to disassemble from pre-Mod 07-2819 and build up the collective to post Mod 072819 configuration. 2. If they do not pass, replace the lever or the tubes with post Mod 07-2819. If you have any question or you need to confirm part numbers due to aircraft Mod status please call us at AEC Technical Support department at 800) 2320323. The RSMs occasionally work from company headquarters when they are in town for meetings or training, but they spend most of their time on the road in their regions meeting with customers and exploring new opportunities for our aircraft and services. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our three newest sales guys. Glenn Murray Southeast RSM (Joined AEC in August 2011) “It was the product that brought me here,” said Glenn Murray, the new Southeast RSM. “More specifically, the abundance of product we offer, versus what is available elsewhere.” Murray, who spent many years working for the competition, says the move to AEC has been perfect for him. Joining AEC in late August of 2011, he was initially working the Midwest region, but took over the Southeast (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and the Bahamas) in January. was the interaction with the clients; getting to know them and in many cases, becoming real friends. I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world in my career and love seeing new places. I am really enjoying the Southeast market, particularly Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Florida.” Kris DeSoto Northeast RSM (Joined AEC August 2011) RSM for the Northeast (Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine). The region has been without a full-time manager for some time, so DeSoto has his work cut out for him. Now a resident of Leonia, New Jersey, he will soon be working out of the new American Eurocopter sales office in New York City. Opening this month in midtown Manhattan at the Atlantic Aviation Metroport™, it is the only OEM sales office in the area. Already a successful career salesman, DeSoto says the AEC product line provides him the best opportunity to succeed. “I’ve watched American Eurocopter dominate the U.S. market since I left ‘Brand X’ in 2002, offering a range of products that can literally serve every market segment. My task is to increase our market share here in the Northeast by servicing our all-important existing client base while creating new opportunities. The competition is fierce, the clients are very sophisticated – and I love the challenge.” Kris is also the guy to talk to about our North East Region Open House! Click here for more details. (cont’d on page 6) Always a people person, work continues to bring rewards for Murray, both professionally and personally. “What I have always loved about sales 5 Commercial Sales Department: Introducing Three New Regional 4BMFT Managers (cont’d) Bob Coutu Midwest R4M (Joined AEC February 6, 2012) With a little more than a month under his American Eurocopter belt, Bob Coutu has just recently had the opportunity to make his first Midwest market visit (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois.), where he was snowed in during a stint in Minnesota. Coutu served 23 years in the Army National Guard and was an aviator, piloting Chinooks for approximately 15 of those years. From 1996-2003 he was a manufacturer’s rep, selling mechanical and electro-mechanical components to OEMs, until being called for active duty in Iraq in 2003. Upon returning to the States in 2004, Coutu served as a full-time Army Operations Officer, acting as an advisor to the Singapore Air Force based at Old Navy Dallas in Grand Prairie until 2007. Having lived in Texas since he was a child and Plano since 2000, Coutu is looking forward to the challenges of his new position. “I enjoy meeting and interacting with people, and I welcome competition, whether it’s from my peers here at AEC or from our direct competitors.” Heli-Expo 2012 Report: Dallas, TX The 2012 Heli-Expo was another great success for the Eurocopter Group, and it was held right in our backyard at the Dallas Convention Center. This year, Eurocopter unveiled the EC130® T2 with a theatrical event on the first day. There were so many people attending the event that we needed a ladder to get pictures. It was well worth it. During the unveiling, Eurocopter announced seven launch customers and orders for 105 of the new EC130 T2. The customers were: Maverick Helicopters, Papillon Helicopters, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, Scandinavian Helicopter Group, Air Commander, Europavia and Enloe FlightCare. This is an incredible statement about the popularity of the EC130 helicopter line in the United States. The EC130 T2 is the latest evolution of the EC130 and includes some impressive upgrades: a more powerful Arriel 2D turboshaft engine and upgraded main gearbox delivering enhanced performance; an active vibration control system; improved air ventilation, distribution and demisting systems; a cabin interior structure redesign with a full flat floor; a cockpit update for enhanced man-machine interface; increased max weight and CG range for improved useful load; and reduced operating costs with a 6,000 hour mature TBO. In addition to the unveiling of the EC130 T2, there were many other newsworthy events. Several highlighted American Eurocopter’s growth and the prevalence of Eurocopter helicopters in the United States. You can read more about them here. Heli-Expo 2012 really kicked things into gear for the year. It won’t be long and we will have to start planning for Heli-Expo 2013, which will be held in Las Vegas from March 4 – 7. See you there!
