UnitedStates.OperatingformorethanfiftyyearsintheU.S.,OBhasaworldwide
presenceandremainsstronglyconnectedtoitsfoundingphilosophy,emphasizingthe
developmentofcharacterandcouragethroughsafe,individuallyfocused,adventurebasedexperientialeducation.OutwardBoundUSAhasmorethan1,000,000alumniand
servesmorethan40,000youngpeopleandadultseachyear.
PositionImpact
OutwardBoundUSA(OBUSA)currentlyraisesmorethan$3millioneachyearfrom
individualdonors,foundationsandcorporationstoprovideoperationalsupportatthe
nationallevelandscholarshipsupporttotheOutwardBoundnetworkofregional
charterschools.TheAssociateDirectorofIndividualGivingpositionwillenhanceour
fundraisingeffortsbyfocusingonourindividualandmajordonorstosecure
approximately$1M+annually.Thispositionwillhelpstrengthentheapproachand
structuretoourindividualgivingprogramandwillberesponsibleforraisingfundsfrom
avarietyofmethods,includingdirectappealsandonlinefundraisinginitiatives.Building
relationshipswithcurrentdonorsandsecuringtheirrenewedsupport,aswellas
identifyingandsolicitingprospectsformajorgiftsupportwillbecriticalforsuccess.
TheAssociateDirectorofIndividualGivingwillreporttotheDevelopmentDirectorand
workcloselywithallmembersoftheDevelopmentteam,theExecutiveDirector,the
BoardofDirectors,theMarketingteam,andotherOBUSAstaffandvolunteers.

Directlysolicitmajorannualandspecialgiftsfromdonors/prospectsinthe
portfolio
Qualifynewprospectsforassignmenttotheportfolio,basedoncapacityand

Demonstratedtrackrecordofsuccessfulfrontlinefundraisinginaninstitutional
settingwithmultiplestakeholders,managingchangeandworkingacross
divisions
Therearetwopotentiallocationsforthisposition:OutwardBoundUSA’s
DevelopmentofficelocatedinNewYorkCity,orOurtwardBound’sheadquarters
inGolden,CO.Thesearchwillcoverbothareasinordertosecurethebest
possiblecandidate/fitforourogranzation.
