Voltage selection by means of metal connection bridges, offering the full rated power at any
selected combination of input and output voltages.
Applications
•
Control Transformer: Transformer able to supply a high instantaneous power without voltage drop at the output. Very
suitable for interlocking contactors, relays and electro valves, as well as adaptation of the mains voltage to the
necessary supply voltage of the loads.
• Isolation Transformer: Transformer with secondary voltage > 50 V, with double or reinforced isolation between primary and
secondary. Its construction provides an excellent degree of attenuation of electrical distortions. Recommended for:
- Electronic equipment, PLC’s and automation systems.
- Auxiliary elements in electrical panels.
- Linear and switching power supplies.
Eliminates the risk of human accidents in case of unipolar contacts.
• Safety Transformer: Transformer with secondary voltage < 50 V, with double or reinforced isolation between primary
and secondary. Eliminates any risk of human accidents in case of unipolar or bipolar contacts.

• Cast Resin construction: robust and resistant casting system, suitable for application in humid, marine and corrosive environments as well as
under unfavourable vibration conditions.
• Fast mounting system: support for mounting on DIN rail 35 x 7,5 mm (EN 50022) on transformers up to 100 VA, simplifying mounting in
electrical panels and cabinets.
• Separation of connections: by means of isolating resin partitions.
• Protection of connection terminals: by means of polycarbonate cover ( V-2 according to UL94 ) avoiding accidental electrical contacts.

The N series transformers are available in special executions, with special voltages, special power ratings, distribution of power ratings,
regulations , electrostatic screens , etc . When ordering, specify the characteristics different from the standard ones and following reference:

Protection type and rating
A ) Protection at the primary side of the transformer :
The supply circuit of the transformer should only be protected against short circuits, by means by a protection with rating of at least 2
times the nominal current of the transformer due to the inrush current of the transformer (about 20 times I nominal during 10 ms) .

Determination of a control transformer
For calculation and selection of a transformer to be used for control and interlocking, following data is necessary:
1º_ Σ VA maint. The sum of the maintenance power ratings of all elements: contactors, relays, electro valves, signal lights, etc...
2º_ Σ VA conn. The maximum sum of the connection power ratings of the elements that trip simultaneously during switching
operations.
3º_ cos ϕ maint. and conn. of each of the elements of the switching sequence.
A ) Calculation for transformer selection, example:
In the example, the maintenance power rating is the sum of the total VA maint. of the three contactors and the maximum sum of the
connection power ratings is occurring when during a switching operation the biggest contactor trips.

B ) Using the table for transformer selection:
In line cos ϕ (0,40), look for the instantaneous power value equal or immediate superior to the calculated total instantaneous power (1138
VA) in order to obtain the transformer reference. In case of the example, the reference of the transformer to be used is N 315. Check that the
transformer power rating is superior to the Σ VA maint. of the contactors, signal lights and other elements to be supplied by the transformer.
