Accutech’s Nunavut Training & Employment Program Description This program has been developed to assist students from Nunavut to successfully complete a prescribed course of training at the Red River College in Winnipeg, and then to find permanent and meaningful employment in Nunavut on completion of their studies. Accutech Engineering Inc. from Winnipeg, has developed this program to assist students from Nunavut to pursue a Diploma in Architectural / Engineering Technology at Red River College in Winnipeg. In addition, Accutech is offering summer employment in Manitoba or Nunavut during the course of study and permanent employment to a selected number of students in our office in Rankin Inlet, upon successful completion of the course. Accutech Engineering Inc. is a multidisciplinary engineering and project / construction management company, headquartered in Winnipeg; we provide services throughout Canada, the United States, and Latin America. Program Assistance Accutech’s assistance with student training is provided in two areas mainly: 1. Assistance during the school program o Provides technical advice & mentoring o Provides a place of contact for students o o o o o o o Assists students with problems that they may be having getting around in Winnipeg and finding goods and services Provides high speed internet and computer access for communication with home; during business hours Involves students in the Rotary Club of Winnipeg so that they can meet people and participate with members in various activities allowing students to feel part of a community away from home. Accutech has staff in Nunavut almost weekly. We can use these staff to move small items back and forth between students and home, at little or no cost (e.g. land food specialties) Accutech will assist students with other suppliers for assistance when and if required Accutech will assist on behalf of the students at the college for additional support Assists students from Nunavut to establish a common dorm house. This allows them to help each other and form a small support community. 2. Employment program We specialize in providing custom technical solutions to our clients. These solutions are developed in accordance with the specific challenges of the project being considered. Our areas of interest are varied, and can be summarized as including most industries where the utilization of specialized engineering design & management and construction / fabrication expertise is required. o Provides summer employment, in o o Nunavut, for duration of schooling (selected students only) Provides permanent employment in our Rankin Office on Graduation from the college program (selected students only) Visits the schools in Nunavut during our job related site visits and give presentations on Engineering Technology career opportunities to students considering a career in Architectural / Engineering technology. Course descriptions can be accessed online at: http://www.rrc.mb.ca Employment On successful completion of the training program at Red River College, Accutech will offer permanent employment to selected college graduates. The number of applicants that will be accepted for permanent employment will vary depending on the requirements of company. Priority for filling any vacancies in our Rankin Inlet offices will be given to graduates of the program. Students who successfully complete the Architectural / Engineering Technology program at Red River College are trained for careers in: o o o o o o Design and construction of building systems Computer assisted design and drafting Site inspection and supervision Construction administration and project management Technical sales and support Building sciences and environmental systems Eligibility All high school students in Nunavut who are considering attending the Architectural / Engineering Technology courses at Red River College are eligible for this program. All NAC students in Nunavut who are considering attending the Architectural / Engineering Technology courses at Red River College are eligible for this program. All students who are permanent residents of Nunavut and who are currently attending the Architectural / Engineering Technology courses, or the Integrated Science and Technology Access Program (ISTAP) at Red River College are eligible to participate.
