OUTERBAY
APPLICATION DATA MANAGEMENT
FOR ORACLE E-BUSINESS SUITE
Information lifecycle approach to managing data growth
Increase application performance and cut IT costs
Company Overview
As the market leader in database archiving (Gartner 2005), OuterBay
Technologies® takes an information lifecycle management (ILM) approach to
enterprise application and database data.
OuterBay Application Data
Management (ADM) Suite combines application archiving, database subsetting
and data growth monitoring solutions. It improves application performance,
stability and availability while reducing the total cost of ownership. Furthermore
it helps you meet regulatory requirements for data retention by enabling
transparent access to both production and archived data from the original
application.
Integration Overview
OuterBay ADM provides high performance, robust ILM capabilities for Oracle
E-Business Suite. As part of the Applications Integration Initiative, validation
was done for OuterBay LiveArchive® which leverages Oracle’s business rules to
safely relocate inactive data from the production database to an online archive.
Key benefits include:
• Substantial, sustained performance gains
• Reduced IT infrastructure costs
• Smaller outage windows for upgrades, patches, and recovery
• Transparent, native application access for both production and archived
data, requiring no user training
• Regulatory compliance
Through the Oracle PartnerNetwork
Applications
Integration
Initiative,
partners with validated integrations are
able to provide customers with standards
based vanilla product integrations, tested
and validated by Oracle. Customers
benefit from improved risk management
and smoother upgrade cap-ability,
leading to a lower total cost of ownership
and greater overall satisfaction.
Integration Methodology and Technology
OuterBay ADM Suite is built on a common, high performance, robust platform
for database archiving and subsetting services to ensure highest level of data and
referential integrity. For Oracle E-Business Suite archiving, the validated
OuterBay LiveArchive leverages Oracle’s business rules and constraints to
identify and validate inactive data or closed transactions. The archiving process
then relocates these transactions, always ensuring the production and archive
databases are in consistent states.
This enables OuterBay to provide 24x7x365 online archiving support,
pause/resume capabilities, and recoverability from application, database or
system failures.
Through its Application Transparency layer, OuterBay LiveArchive retains realtime access to both production and archived data through the existing forms,
reports and queries for reporting and compliance purposes.
The archiving operations can easily be integrated into the Concurrent Manager
for launching and scheduling jobs. LiveArchive also provides built-in patch
detection and change management to ensure consistent application access after
applying Oracle patches or upgrades.
