ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURE CONSISTING OF WALLS, CEILING, STRUCTURAL FRAMING, CONNECTING MEMBERS, DOORS, WINDOWS, MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS AND ALL FASTENERS NECESSARY TO CONSTRUCT THE TEST CELLS. THE TEST CELLS ARE TO BE FIELD ASSEMBLED FROM 4" THICK PRE-MANUFACTURED COMPONENTS. ENCLOSURE TO BE DESIGNED TO MEET THE PERFORMANCE CRITERIA SPECIFIED HEREIN AS A COMPLETE ASSEMBLY. B. PROVIDE LABOR, MATERIAL, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SCAFFOLDING, TRANSPORTATION, INSPECTION, CERTIFICATES, AND TEMPORARY PROTECTION NECESSARY TO: 1. PROVIDE ACOUSTICAL ENCLOSURES AS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS AND AS SPECIFIED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS. PROVIDE ACCESSORIES AND APPURTENANCES REQUIRED FOR COMPLETE WORKING INSTALLATION. 2. PREVENT DAMAGE TO MATERIALS, TO OTHER STORED PRODUCTS, TO EXISTING CONSTRUCTION, AND PROJECT WORK. 1.05 WARRANTY A. FINISH WARRANTY: FURNISH PANEL MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN WARRANTY COVERING FAILURE OF THE FACTORY-APPLIED FINISH ON METAL PANELS WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS WARRANTY SHALL BE IN ADDITION TO AND NOT A LIMITATION OF OTHER RIGHTS THE OWNER MAY HAVE AGAINST THE CONTRACTOR UNDER THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. B. WARRANTY PERIOD: 1.06 A. 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE TEST CELL SUPPLIER MUST PROVIDE A LIST OF TEN (10) SIMILAR SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATIONS OF MODULAR TEST CELLS. 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 A. 2.02 ACOUSTICAL METAL PANELS ALL PANELS AND THEIR COMPONENTS SHALL BE PRE-FABRICATED, SECTIONAL, ALL-METAL CLAD, MODULAR AND DESIGNED FOR EASY AND ACCURATE FIELD ASSEMBLY. THE PANELS AND COMPONENTS SHALL NOT BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE DUE TO EXTENDED EXPOSURE TO VIBRATION, AIR TEMPERATURE OR HUMIDITY WITH THE PASSAGE OF TIME. PANEL CONSTRUCTION A. PERFORATED GALVANNEAL STEEL. B. SOUND-RETARDING AND ABSORBING FILL MATERIAL SHALL BE NONCOMBUSTIBLE, INERT, MILDEW-RESISTANT AND VERMIN PROOF. C. THE PANEL SHELLS, FRAMING MEMBERS AND INTERNAL REINFORCEMENTS SHALL BE WELDED AND/OR RIVETED TOGETHER TO FORM A METAL-SHEATHED PANEL OF SUFFICIENT STRENGTH FOR MAXIMUM OPERATING LOADS. D. PRIOR TO ATTACHING FACE SHEET, PANEL SHALL BE DAMPENED AND FILLED WITH SOUNDRETARDING AND ABSORBING ELEMENTS. FILL SHALL BE SLIGHTLY LARGER AND THICKER THAN INSIDE DIMENSIONS OF PANEL. NO VOIDS WILL BE TOLERATED E. THE OUTER GALVANIZED STEEL SHELL THICKNESS SHALL BE 16-GA. MINIMUM AND THE INNER GALVANIZED STEEL SHELL SHALL BE 22-GA. MINIMUM THICK. F. WEEP HOLES TO PERMIT WATER RUNOFF SHALL BE PROVIDED ON ALL HORIZONTAL SURFACES. G. SPOT WELDS SHALL BE NO MORE THAN 4 IN. APART. 2.03 DOOR PANELS A. DOOR LEAF SHALL BE 4 IN. THICK FABRICATED FROM 16 GAUGE STEEL AND FILLED WITH SOUND ABSORBING AND DAMPING ELEMENTS WITH A CLEAR OPENING OF (REFER TO DRAWINGS). DOORS SHALL HAVE A RATING OF STC 42 MINIMUM. B. FRAME SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM MINIMUM 11 GAUGE STEEL. C. ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT OF DOOR ASSEMBLY INCLUDING DOOR LEAF, FRAME, ACOUSTIC SEALS AND HINGES SHALL TAKE PLACE AT THE FACTORY AND THE ENTIRE UNIT SHALL SHIP TO THE JOBSITE READY FOR INSTALLATION AND OPERATION. ALL DOORS SHALL BE TESTED FOR PROPER OPERATION IN THE FACTORY PRIOR TO SHIPMENT. D. ACOUSTIC SEALS: SIDES AND HEAD OF DOOR AND FRAME SHALL RECEIVE TWO (2) SETS OF SELF-ALIGNING COMPRESSION SEALS. DOOR TO BE HELD IN PLACE BY FORCE OF PERIMETER SEALS. ACOUSTIC LABYRINTH SHALL BE CREATED WHEN DOOR IS IN CLOSED POSITION. BOTTOM OF DOOR LEAF SHALL CONTAIN CONTINUOUS GRAVITY ACTIVATED SEAL, WHICH SHALL COMPRESS AGAINST FLOOR AS DOOR IS CLOSED. RAISED SILLS AND THRESHOLD DROP SEALS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. E. HARDWARE: 1. WINDOWS SHALL CONSIST OF TWO (2) LAYERS OF 3/16 IN. SAFETY GLASS SEPARATED BY AN AIR SPACE AND SEALED IN ACOUSTICALLY TIGHT RUBBER SEALS OR ONE LAYER OF 13/16” THICK BULLET RESISTANT GLAZING. REFER TO DRAWINGS FOR WINDOW TYPE AND LOCATION. C. AIR SPACE ON DOUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS SHALL CONTAIN A DESICCANT MATERIAL TO PREVENT FOGGING. 2.05 PANEL COMPONENTS A. ALL ACCESSORY TRIM ITEMS SHALL BE OF GALVANIZED STEEL AND SHALL BE FURNISHED IN FACTORY-STANDARD LENGTHS TO BE FIELD CUT TO SPECIFIED DIMENSIONS. LOCATIONS AND QUANTITIES OF SHEET METAL SCREWS AND TRIM REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION DETAILS. B. ALL PANEL CONNECTIONS, TRIM ITEMS, ACCESSORIES, BASE CHANNEL/PANEL INTERFACES, BASE CHANNEL/FLOOR INTERFACES AND OTHER SECTIONS SHALL BE SEALED WITH AN ACOUSTICAL SEALANT THAT SHALL NOT HARDEN AND PREVENT DISASSEMBLY IN THE FUTURE. C. PANEL CONNECTION DESIGN AND FIT SHALL PREVENT NOISE LEAKAGE WHILE ACOUSTICALLY AND STRUCTURALLY JOINING PANELS TOGETHER. JOINERS SHALL BE ROLL FORMED SECTIONS INDEPENDENT OF BASIC PANEL SO THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY OF DIRECT PASSAGE OF NOISE. D. WEEP HOLES TO PERMIT WATER RUNOFF SHALL BE PROVIDED ON ALL HORIZONTAL SURFACES THAT MAY TRAP WATER. 2.06 A. 2.07 ACCESSORY ITEMS DOORS, WINDOWS, ACCESSORY COMPONENTS, ETC., SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS. STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE A. UNDER THE INDICATED LOADING CONDITIONS, THE ENTIRE ENCLOSURE SYSTEM SHALL BE SELF-SUPPORTING. THE INSTALLER SHALL FURNISH AND ASSEMBLE ALL STRUCTURAL MEMBERS IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS AND MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION DETAILS. B. THE TEST CELL STRUCTURE SHALL SUPPORT ALL WALL MOUNTED CRANE AND MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT LOADS AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. C. UNDER THE ABOVE LOADING CONDITIONS, THE ASSEMBLED ACOUSTICAL STRUCTURE SHALL NOT EXHIBIT ANY PANEL JOINT DEFLECTION IN EXCESS OF L/240, WHERE L IS THE UNSUPPORTED SPAN LENGTH OF ANY PANEL SECTION IN THE ERECTED STRUCTURE. 2.08 A.
