(MSS) is a product from the MV Distribution product
family and is designed keeping in mind the fast
growing power needs of Indian cities, combined with
reduced urban space availability.

Equipment Details
Electrical equipment in the Mini-Sub
MV Switchgear:
Ring Main Unit type 8DJHST in Mini-Sub
• Maintenance free
• Gas insulated metal enclosed RMU is used for the MV
networking in the Mini-Sub
• Ring feeders are provided with three position
disconnector switch, while transformer feeders are
• provided with circuit breaker acting as three position
switch
• Block type construction
• Cable connection are from front
• Logical mechanical interlocks
• Manual operating mechanism (option: with motor)
• Capacitive voltage detection system for all the feeders
• Extensible version available on request
Distribution Transformer:
• Mini-Sub is designed for transformers rating upto
1600kVA/24kV
• Oil cooled hermitically sealed/dry type transformers
• Transformer is factory fitted inside the Mini-Sub
Optionally the transformer can be installed at site
• The Mini-Sub is designed for lifting along with the
transformer fitted inside
Low Voltage Distribution:
• Mini-Sub is designed to house tailor made solutions
for different LV distribution
• Product range includes Air Circuit Breakers, Moulded
Case Circuit Breakers, fuse switches
• Solutions for automatic supply changeover in case of
supply failure by providing DG incomer in tandem
with Mini-Sub transformer incomer
• Capacitor panel with automatic power factor
regulation rated as per transformer capacity

Mini-Sub comprises:
• 2mm thick CRC steel sheet enclosure mounted on a
hot-dip galvanized ISMC Channel. Doors on each side
of the Mini-Sub provide access to the MV RMU, LV
and transformer.
• MV switchgear is a compact SF6-insulated ring main
unit with VCB for transformer switching.
• Transformer can be either oil cooled or dry type.
• LV distribution is done with the help of incoming ACB
and outgoing MCCB/switch fuse. This can be
customized as per the requirement.
• Optional APFC panel can be accommodated with up
to 400kVAr capacitor bank controlled by an intelligent
microprocessor based power factor correction relay
with data logger.
• Cable entries are from bottom.

For 1600kVA rating the height of the mini-sub 8FB20
shall be 2650.
*Dimensions with 3 way RMU for MV side. The same
may vary depending on the RMU configuration.
Transport and Installation:
• Mini-Sub are delivered with protective covering for
local shipment and packed for sea shipment for
export.
• Local transport is done on open truck and for export
the same is done in open top containers.
• Mini-Sub are factory assembled and ready for
installation on the concrete foundation provided at
site.
• The internal connections are done in factory and only
the network cables are to be connected at site.
Product Quality and Customer Benefits
Quality Assurance:
The Mini-Sub is manufactured in accordance with the
latest IEC 62271-202 and Siemens high standards for
quality and environment (ISO9001 and ISO 14001).
Personal Safety:
All live parts in the Mini-Sub are protected against
unintentional contact by means of lockable /
mechanically interlocked door and covers. The Low
voltage parts are also protected with unintentional
contact. The enclosure of the Mini-Sub is effectively
earthed with the earth busbar forming a grid inside the
Mini-Sub interconnecting all the equipments. Provision
for connecting the external grid earth is given on either
sides of the Mini-Sub.
Climatic and Environmental Protection:
The Mini-Sub enclosure is designed for withstanding
the harsh climatic conditions by high quality surface
treatment and powder coated paint as per proven
Siemens standards.
This ensures the exterior/interior finish remains Intact
for all the environmental and climatic changes. All the
parts are designed to take care of outdoor and vandal
free installations. Protection against theft is taken care
by providing lockable doors and mechanically
interlocked covers.
Modular Design:
Factory assembled Mini-Sub is ready for installation. In
areas where completely assembled unit cannot be
transported, the Mini-Sub can be dispatched in
modular form and can be installed at site. Modular and
completely bolted design allows this flexibility to overcome the space crunch.
