IMPORTANT: Be certain to read through these operating instructions before operating
your panels. An overall understanding of how to operate the partition will prevent
accidental damage to the partition, and, more importantly, to people in the area. Make
certain everyone who moves the panels has been trained in their proper operation.
Your Hufcor Representative will be happy to provide training assistance if needed.
A Summit vertical lift partition consists of a series of individual panels with guide
rollers at each end that ride in guide rails located at both ends of the opening.
The partition is electrically operated. The panels travel vertically through a
narrow slot in the ceiling where they are stored when not in use.
CAUTION:
Your electric partition is a moving piece of machinery and requires appropriate caution while it is
being extended or retracted. NEVER ALLOW THE PARTITION TO BE ACTIVATED WITHOUT
PROPER SUPERVISION.
General Information:
1.
Only personnel who have been trained in accordance with these operating instructions should be permitted to
operate the partition.
2.
To operate the partition, a key is required to
activate the main switch (Fig. 1)
Fig. 1 Key Switch

Options:
a. If a second switch has been ordered, it
may be placed at the opposite end from
the main switch. It will have a push
button (see Fig. 2). The rocker switch on
the main switch and the push button are
to be pressed simultaneously for the
partition to extend or retract in the
opening.
b. A Master Key Switch is an option (see
Fig. 3). It will operate the same as the
main switch but the switch plate will be
wider.
3.
Caution people in the vicinity to maintain a safe distance while the
partition is in operation.
4.
Report any malfunction to your local Hufcor Distributor at once.

the partition is in the opening.
2.
Be certain to watch the panels as they descend to insure that there are no obstructions and that the path remains
clear.
Note: If the partition comes in contact with an object while descending, the partition will automatically stop and
reverse 6”-12” [152-304mm]. Clear the obstacle. Turn the key to “Reset”, then to “On” and continue as before
until all the panels are in the opening. Depending on the height of the partition, you may see only a partial panel at
the top near the ceiling.
3.
After the partition is in the opening, the operator may turn the key to the straight up position and remove.
Removing the key will prevent unauthorized and untrained people from operating the partition.
To Open Partition - (Move partition from the opening to the stored position.)

button until the last panel no longer moves through the ceiling.
3.

remains clear.
4.
The operator may turn the key to the straight up position and remove. Removing the key will prevent unauthorized
and untrained people from operating the partition.
Summit Safety Systems
The Summit partition system has primary and secondary safety systems in the event a single safety system should fail.
Included are:
1. A certified load arrestor to stop a free fall occurrence.
2. An entrapment backup system on the lead edge of the panel that automatically reverses downward movement
when the lead edge makes contact with an obstruction in the path of the partition.
3. Certified Type B2 safety monitoring relay switches that can sense any failures between each limit switch and the
control box as the partition is operated during every cycle. The safety monitor switches automatically shut off
power to the motor drives if a failure occurs.
4. The system contains a constant contact finger switch. As the lead panel operates within the guide rail, the switch
will immediately shut off the motor drive power in the event of a free fall detection or an obstruction on the lead
edge.
5. Option: An optional second switch is available. The second switch has a push button. The two switches require
two people to operate the partition. One presses the rocker switch while the second person simultaneously presses
the push button. This option ensure operators are in full view of the opening on both sides during operation.
6. Option: Your system may have optional non-contact optical beams that detect objects that may inadvertently move
under the partition during operation.
IF YOUR PARTITION DOES NOT OPERATE, CONTACT YOUR HUFCOR DISTRIBUTOR IMMEDIATELY. ONE OF
THESE SAFETY SYSTEMS MAY HAVE DETECTED A FAILURE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE PARTITION
OR OVERRIDE ONE OF THESE SAFETY SYSTEMS. DOING SO COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE TO YOUR
PARTITION.
IN THE EVENT OF POWER FAILURE
If the partition fails to operate and power IS NOT available to the partition, it can still be operated manually by using the
following methods:
1. Locate the gearbox/motor in the center of the run, above the ceiling.
2. Disengage the brake under the gearbox
3. While holding the manual release of the brake, rotate the shaft of the gearbox that extends through the
brake. You will need a drill to operate the wall.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
The following cleaning instructions are for Hufcor standard finish materials and should work for most cleaning needs. For
additional information, visit our website www.hufcor.com/Products/Care & Cleaning. To clean custom finishes, contact the
finish supplier.
VINYL FABRIC SURFACE, EXPOSED METAL, AND SEALS
The vinyl surface of your Hufcor partition may be cleaned with warm water and mild soap. Sponge the surface clean and
wipe dry with a soft cloth. A soft brush may be used if dirt is difficult to remove. Carbon tetrachloride may be used for
removal of grease and oil.
CAUTION: Do not use lacquer thinner or other strong chemicals. Many floor cleaning materials contain chemicals harmful to
vinyl. Care should be taken when using such compounds near the partition.
CARPET/FABRIC SURFACE: Remove the stain as soon as possible, as stains on will become more difficult to remove if
they are allowed to dry. With a cleaning brush, remove any loose particles before applying liquid cleaning solutions.
First, apply a cleaner such as Tech Stain Remover, or Spartan SD-20 All-Purpose Cleaner Shampoo to a clean white towel.
Gently blot dry with a second clean white towel. Stubborn dirt or grease may be removed with Oakite Safety-Solv, Degreaser
Safety Solvent. Always test a clean, inconspicuous area before applying cleaner.
When cleaning stains with liquid solutions avoid oversaturation. Over-saturation distributes the stain deeper into the fibers
and may cause a ring once the stained area dries. It is better to repeat cleaning than it is to oversaturate.
Always use the minimum amount of cleaning solvent needed to remove a stain.
Commercial carpet cleaners may be used to clean carpeted surfaces. Follow the instructions. provided by the commercial
cleaner manufacturer.
MARKERBOARDS:
For daily use:
• Always allow the dry erase marker to dry completely before erasing. This means to let the solvent of the marker evaporate
before erasing.
• Always use a dry erase eraser or a soft cloth to remove the marker.
• When cleaning the board, make sure all marks are removed prior to using the Dry Erase White Board Cleaner.
• When a White board cleaner is not available, only use a mild soap and water solution. Rinse with clean water and wipe with
a soft dry cloth.
• If the board has excessive shadows or ghosting that will not clean off with the Expo Dry Erase Board Cleaner, then a
Maximum 70% isopropyl alcohol solution can be used to gently clean with a soft cotton cloth or micro fiber cloth. Abrasive
cloths can scratch the surface and permanently damage the dry erase feature. After cleaning with this process allow to dry
overnight. For complete cleaning instructions visit www.hufcor.com.
