Cold & Hot Aisle Containment
Cold aisle and hot aisle containment allows
cooling units to run at reduced capacity and still

Polargy specialises in turn key containment projects with a focus
on achieving successful outcomes. We handle all aspects of
deploying containment into a new or an existing site in order to
assure projects are completed on time and on budget. Polargy
follows a documented project process and staffs each project with a
dedicated Project Manager assuring objectives are met and projects
run smoothly.

Containment is the last thing to go in, so when schedules are under
pressure, it is the containment piece that needs to go in quickly and
smoothly. Our products are modular and adjustable so that field
adjustments can be made with minimal delays.

SMART DESIGN
Polargy provides detailed containment designs for hot and cold aisle
containment projects. For new construction projects, Polargy develops
shop drawings from architectural drawings in CAD and prepares record
drawings after the installations. We also offer a design assist service
where we work closely with the architect’s engineers and assist in the
development of a final design for a project.
Since containment is typically the last piece of the data centre to be
installed, bringing our experience and competency to the project saves
time and prevents rework.

PolarPlex
TM
Containment Systems
Highly effective air isolation solutions for controlling airflow, the systems are comprised of soft-wall curtains
and rigid panels. These eliminate hot spots and over cooled zones, saving energy while improving equipment
reliability. Either hot aisle or cold aisle containment can be deployed with PolarPlexTM. The curtains and panels
feature a modular, flexible design allowing them to be tailored to meet specific site needs. Systems can be either
self-installed or installed by Polargy.
Solutions for All Ceiling Types
• For dropped ceilings, curtains are suspended
from the grid system with an aluminum mounting
track. The track easily attaches with T-bar
brackets, making installation of curtains and
strips simple and quick
• In open ceilings the existing structure or
additional unistrut framing is used for securing
curtains or panels
• In tall ceilings panels secured to and supported
by the racks is an easy to deploy option.
Quick and Durable Installation
PolarPlexTM Curtains feature a hook-bead
mounting system that allows the curtain strips to
be quickly and securely hooked onto the aluminum
mounting track. PolarPlexTM Panels are mounted
either vertically above the rack or horizontally
across the aisle and are secured with brackets
or suspended from the ceiling with cables. After
installation, panels and curtains can be easily
removed and re-installed.

PolarPlex P2 Sliding Door
TM
Adjustable Height Auto-Closing Containment Door
The P2 Sliding Door solves the problem of sizing a containment door for varying aisle widths and rack heights.
The dual door is 54” wide so it covers most 4 foot aisles. With the side extender panels, the aisle width coverage
expands up to 8”. The single sliding door is 37.5” wide. The doors, along with the side extender panels, are
adjustable in height from 79” to 89”. With this design approach, one door covers virtually every possible size
requirement. This one-size-fits-all design allows the doors and extender panels to be kept in stock, making the
lead-times just a few days.
PolarPlex P2 SWING Door
TM
Adjustable Height Auto-Closing Containment Door
Swing doors mount to raised or slab floor and can be installed
independently of rack type. Doors come in a set that attaches to
floor with footpad and to either the rack or ceiling with brackets
or unistrut.
Door inserts are twinwall polycarbonate panels to let light
through and keep weight light.

PolarPlex Drop-Away Panels
TM
Containment Systems
UL-listed for use below sprinkler heads, the PolarPlex™
Drop-Away Panels solve the “sprinkler head obstruction”
problem associated with deploying containment. This
unique Hot and Cold Aisle Containment Solution is deployed
horizontally across the aisles to create a tight containment
barrier. The panels are made of an aluminum frame with a
special translucent insert.
The inserts are available in either a frosted or clear type.
Panel inserts are heat sensitive and promptly move out
of their setting in high heat. They are designed for use
underneath lighting and fire suppression systems and are
engineered to drop out of a panel frame in the event of a fire.
PolarPlex Curtains
TM
Containment Systems
Polargy’s PolarPlex™ Strip curtains and softwall panels
are an effective, low cost solution for hot and cold aisle
containment. The curtains install quickly, seal well, and are
a durable solution for isolating hot exhaust air from cold
supply air.
The PolarPlex™ Curtains and Strip Doors install rapidly and
with little site disruption. The modular, fast mounting system
accommodates site variations and saves on installation
labor.
Mounting channels attach quickly and easily to the T-bar grid
with Polargy’s special “P-Clip”. Then the curtains, which
feature a hookbead mounting lip, are simply and securely
hooked onto the aluminum mounting channel.
• The mounting channels are clear, anodised aluminum
available in either Flat Wall or Angle Mounting forms.
• Curtains are available in 8” wide pieces for strip doors and
are available in wider panels for above rack containment. All curtains are cut to length for each unique site and rack
height.

PolarPlex Vertical Panels

Containment Systems
Polargy’s PolarPlex™ Standard Containment Panels are an
attractive containment solution for isolating above and around
the racks. They are typically deployed vertically to create an
attractive, modular containment barrier. Made of anodised
aluminum framing and fire-safe inserts, the PolarPlex™
Containment Panels are lightweight, cost effective and attractive
looking. Panels are supported with a tight fitting bracket so that
they can be either secured to the rack tops or to the floor. A
movable, self-standing panel is available in custom heights and
widths. Standard panels are also configured as “containment
stalls” to be used to isolate orphan racks.
The PolarPlex™ SPS is a ceiling suspended aisle containment
solution with an innovative quick connect and quick removal
design. This rigid vertical containment system is ideal for hot
aisle containment and a great alternative to vinyl curtains. In
overhead applications the SPS is completely supported by
the ceiling so it is rack independent and server cabinets can
be moved in and out without effecting the containment. In
applications with Polargy’s Overhead Prefabricated System or
with the Floor Mounted Infrastructure solution full-length panels
are used to fill in the gaps between racks or for completely
isolating the aisle for commissioning. The system is patent
pending.
