Founded in 1977, Electron Metal is a leading manufacturer of quality sheet metal products, servicing
clients who rank amongst the 500 leading companies in Canada and the U.S. In addition to our primary
products of cabinets, enclosures, consoles and related accessories for the telecommunications, electric,
electronic, security and broadcast industries, we also offer custom manufacturing services for all your
specialized needs. Whether you require a precision chassis, relay rack, industry standard enclosure,
custom designed console or even pre-wiring, our staff is committed to quality manufacturing, outstanding customer service and rapid delivery.
In April 2000 we took possession of our new 80,000 sq.ft. facility effectively doubling our manufacturing
area, permitting us to streamline processes, inventory standard components, broaden our product offering and improve delivery cycles.

Technical Reference Information
All of Electron Metal’s quality products
adhere to strict industry standards for
Rack Units, Rack Spacing and EIA hole
spacing.
• One “Rack Unit” (RU) is equal
to 1.75”.
• Each product is measured
in multiples of RU’s.
• Mounting rails and accessories
are drilled and tapped 10-32 UNF-2B
at standard EIA spacing (see chart
below). Clip nuts are also available.
• Electron Metal offers products
in either 19” or 23” rackmount
widths. We also have the capability
to fabricate non-standard sizes.

Relay Rack
The Series 800 relay rack is for installations that do not permit bolting the rack to the floor. It has a large,

The Series 800 Relay Rack is available as a kit including either single or double vertical cable management troughs. This relay rack also features the same large, free standing base as our standard Series
800 rack. Cable managements include cutouts on both sides for easy cable arrangements, as well as

Keyboard Shelves
Our keyboard shelves are a perfect solution for situations that require a keyboard to be installed in a
cabinet or relay rack. Some models include a sliding keyboard support so the keyboard can be hidden
away when not in use and easily accessed when needed. Sliding supports are removable and add
approx. 7” to the total height of the shelf. Cannot be used with vented shelves. Other models include a
keyboard tray for relay racks and our unique keyboard/monitor tray.

Reversed Wall Mount Cabinet
Our reversed Wall Mount Cabinet is similar to our standard wall mount cabinet, but its layout is reversed.
The 4” rear section is fixed to the wall, allowing equipment to be mounted inside the deep mid section.
This cabinet also includes a locking front acrylic door, cable entry cutouts on the rear sections and fan
cutouts for optional ventilation fans. The cabinet also has a pair of adjustable panel mounting angles to

required to be mounted on a wall, such as patch panels and other small equipment. Ideal for use in office
networking rooms. Brackets come with either one or two hinges, for easy access to the rear of equipment.
Each bracket includes a cable entry hole on rear, cable tie down lancings, and rails tapped 10-32 at standard EIA spacing. Available in 19” rackmount only, fixed or adjustable depth.

There are many accessories available to mount your cabinet or relay rack securely to the ground. We
offer sets of casters to help mobilize your equipment, simple rubber insulated leveling feet to keep your
equipment straight and to isolate it from vibrations and anchoring kits to securely mount your cabinets
or racks to the ground. An anti-tip plate is also available to prevent accidental tipping of cabinets.

Anti-tip Plate
• This item is effective when heavy equipment
is mounted on sliding shelves to prevent tipping
when shelves are extended. The anti-tip plate bolts

Power Strips
• This power strip mounts vertically in the
cabinet, to easily distribute power to your
equipment. Each outlet is spaced at 6” apart.
All strips are 3 wire, 1-circuit with insulated

Filler Panels
When assembling your cabinet you may have rack spaces that are left empty after installing your
equipment. To solve this, you can purchase a wide assortment of blank filler panels. Should you require
extra ventilation throughout your cabinet, we offer a range of vented filler panels with a series of small
cutouts punched on the front of the panels to promote air circulation. Both types are available either flat
or formed for extra rigidity, in steel or aluminum.

LAN Racks
Our LAN racks are an ideal solution for networking storage and workstations. The racks feature
modular components and construction providing almost limitless adjustability and customization. With
its open design, it allows easy access to both the front and rear of your equipment. Each rack features
concealed cable management in its vertical members, as well as through the horizontal stiffeners, to
keep your cabling in order. Shelves and other accessories can be adjusted in increments. All our racks
feature a simple “hook on” system for shelves and accessories. Your components simply hook onto the
LAN frame, without the need for any special tools or hardware.

Our user-friendly workstation is ideal for repair, assembly and service technicians. With its large table
surface, it offers a clean and uncluttered work area. A rear-mounted powerbar allows for multiple electrical connections and large overhead fluorescent lights supply ample illumination. The heavy-duty frame
is constructed of welded steel and has a reinforced base with a non-slip rubber surface footrest. The
frame comes standard with a series of holes and cutouts to allow easy repositioning of accessories.
