Managing energy: a very underestimated cost
• The cost connected to battery maintenance and life are so called “hidden” and usually underestimated
or not communicated correctly to the final user.
• On the purchase cost of a professional cleaning machine, the costs connected to battery replacement
and maintenance can arrive at up to two thirds of the initial machine cost in quite a short period of time.

Choice of battery: an important decision
The different constructive technologies available on a battery can vary in either positive or negative points:

Talking about cycles: be careful! You’re talking about battery life time
A cycle is intended in a nearly total discharge of the battery, plus its total re-charge once again. The declared
cycles of a battery equals the declaration of its life; for examples, 100 discharges and relative recharges. Unlike the
“material handling” field, in which traction batteries are developed for an average use of at least 5 hours, the young
professional cleaning machine field has an average use of less than 2 hours.
The international norms in force make battery manufacturers declare the number of cycles connected to a discharge
in 5 hours. The “Cleaning” machine market cannot (if not for a limited number of larger machinery requirements)
recognise such discharge rate, as the machines are used on average for 2 hours.
At this point the cycles of a battery become much more important, as they are a lot less than what is declared,
respecting the international norms in force.

Also the way the battery is used has an important impact on its life scale
Obtaining the best out of a battery cycle means two things: discharge the battery nearly to its minimum, and then
re-charge it once again to its total initial charge. A disorderly discharge and charge can not only reduce consistently
the life of the battery, but also make the battery loose its total charge during the life time of the battery.

Battery charger: a crucial choice!
The most frequent mistake made is under estimating the crucial role of a battery charger. As
in other uses, even in this field there are battery chargers with different quality and technical
performances; for example, the entry level chargers that do not control gasification and have
very low energy efficiency. Good quality batteries can suddenly become very low performing,
and cost a lot more in maintenance costs if the choice of the battery charger is not carefully
made.

batteries, used with IPC Gansow battery chargers with TCL technology, offer a double battery life
compared to traditional batteries.
Performance, safety and respect for the environment
• Fully sealed construction regulated by valves that prevent the accidental release of the electrolyte. These
features makes the battery maintenance free.
• The groups of plates are anchored to each other to ensure maximum protection against vibration.
• Reduced auto-discharge, about 1% - 3% at 20/25 C° (68/77 F°) per month.
• The terminals and hardware are made of copper and stainless steel and offer superior resistance to
corrosion.
• The batteries are recyclable and material used in construction are recycled.
