Top technology for set-top boxes
Higher frequency communication systems are one of today’s
growth markets. This is an area where NEC Electronics
can call on its expertise as world market leader for low-noise
FETs. NEC Electronics is in the unique position of being
able to offer a broad range of semiconductor technologies
– Si/SiGe Bipolar, Si/SiGe BiCMOS, CMOS, and GaAs – to
meet customer needs. Products range from discrete BJT Si
transistors, oscillator and Si MMIC gain blocks, to ultralow-noise GaAs HJFETs, and state-of-the-art 13 GHz SiGe
prescalers.
Higher integrated products are also available; these
include RF down-converters, oscillators and AGC/video
amplifiers, like our dedicated µPC2798GR, µPC3220GR and
µPC3228T5S out-of-band tuners.
NEC Electronics offers the µPC3217GV/18GV/19GV/
21GV/31GV AGC/video IF amplifiers for digital terrestrial,
satellite and cable tuners. These compact products feature
high gain, low noise and low distortion. They're already
extremely popular with many major STB tuner customers.

For multiswitch applications, we offer high-isolation
µPG2053K and µPG2054K 4 x 2 GaAs switches, and the
µPD5713TK Si CMOS SPDT switch. CMOS-based 4 x 2
switches with low power consumption. µPD5715GR and
µPD5716GR are currently released.
µPB150xTU prescaler series has divide ratios of 1:2, 1:4 and
1:8. Delivering high performance at low cost, these products
have a clear edge over competitors' expensive GaAs-based
products.
