The ability to automate the opening and closing of new or existing doors has become an increasingly important part of most
buildings, with service providers needing to satisfy legislation aimed at creating universal access for all users. Selecting the
most appropriate automatic door system need not be a complex issue.
The Dor-O-Matic range of automatic door operators fall generally into 3 categories.

IN HEAD CONCEALED SLIDE
The In Head Concealed Slide is a highly versatile system which lends itself to a range of construction and installation
variations. The clean, simple lines of the system will provide a high quality look to an external entrance, internal lobby or
corridor. The simple uncluttered look can be further enhanced with the use of frameless glass doors and side screens
providing a high quality architectural look.
The operator is fully programmable in its opening and closing cycle and is available with a comprehensive choice of
automatic or manual activation and safety sensing devices suitable for all applications.
Typical applications
The flexibility of the In Head Concealed Slide system lends itself to a multitude of applications, particularly in the leisure
and retail environments where entrance doors are subjected to large volumes of traffic in both directions and where a
wide, clear opening is required. However, these requirements could just as readily be needed in a hospital or hotel
reception.

The Compact Slide operator combines understated elegance with robust functionality. The innovative design brings
together a slimline modular system for accurate installation with advanced componentry to provide enhanced control of
the operating modes.
The operator is a self contained electro-mechanical drive unit mounted onto an extruded backplate which gives lateral
adjustment of the drive mechanisms, to achieve perfect alignment of the operator to the opening. Doors can be framed

TELESCOPIC SLIDE
The Slide operator is also available as a multi door Telescopic Slide system which can be surface mounted to masonry or
curtain walling structures.
Typical applications
For applications which require the functional characteristics of the slide system but are for extremely wide structural
openings, the Telescopic Slide system is ideal. It may also be applied where there is insufficient space for two standard
double sliding doors to be mounted side by side. Typically, the Telescopic Slide system is installed at the entrance to
shopping malls or supermarkets where large, uninterrupted clear openings are accessed from both sides.

IN HEAD CONCEALED SWING
The In Head Concealed Swing door system is a flexible and adaptable system which utilises an extruded aluminium head
section to house the automatic operator and top door pivots. The door is motor driven in the opening cycle and spring closed
with motor assist in the closing cycle with microprocessor control being fully programmable in its opening and closing cycle.
To satisfy safety legislation, the system is available with a specially designed pivotted door and frame section which
prevents finger trap situations and avoids what can be unsightly 'add on' components. The Swing system is available for
single and double door applications and can be concealed or surface mounted within masonry or glazed curtain walling
systems.
Typical applications
An In Head Concealed Swing system is most appropriate where the widest clear opening is required within a corridor or
in a restricted structural opening. The In Head Concealed Swing door application is also extremely adaptable as a
means of replacing or upgrading existing conventional swing doors internally or externally.

The Compact Swing operator helps building owners and service providers to quickly and economically upgrade existing
or new doors to make provision for disabled access in accordance with The Equalities Act.
The independent, surface mounted design provides a quick and simple retrofit solution onto existing doorways or any
form of conventional timber, metal or glazed door in a new-build application. The innovative design brings together a
slender modular based system for precise installation giving a discreet appearance with sophisticated functionality,
smooth and quiet operation.
Typical applications
A self contained electro-mechanical device offers an exceptionally cost effective method of automating new or existing
double or single leaf swing doors. With an overall height of 115mm and depth of 123mm, the Compact Swing operator is
designed to aesthetically fit onto most existing profiles. The operator can be adapted on-site to suit a variety of door and
frame widths, as the components are mounted onto an extruded backplate to allow perfect alignment of the operator to

The Folding door system operates with the same degree of control as a conventional swing door but has a much smaller
opening arc. This 'space saving' system combines the convenience of a sliding door system so it can be more comfortably used
from both directions by giving the maximum clear opening width available within the structure.
The Folding door is supplied as an In Head Concealed system which can be built into a prepared structural opening, glass
facade system or surface mounted.
Typical applications
Where the structural opening is limited in width and where a conventional swing door would either not be possible because of
restrictions on the opening arc or where the door is accessed from both sides, the Folding door is an ideal solution. The
reduced opening arc means clear space on the approach to the door does not need to be so deep as the leading edge of the
door is not swinging out towards the user to the same degree.

The ability to respond to customer's specific application requirements is something that sets Dor-O-Matic apart from many
of our competitors. We are able to develop special solutions to suit special applications. This may be to suit architectural or
constructional details for example, or to incorporate a specific access control security system. Development of specific
solutions has included a two year development programme in association with BAA on Bomb Blast Resistant doors for
Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
Typical applications
All security sensitive locations could benefit from the Bomb Blast Resistant automatic door solution. One of the primary
objectives was to develop a solution which maintained the appearance and operating characteristics of the door so that
they would be relatively inconspicuous and therefore be acceptable for wider applications in the public environment.

Testing
This is the culmination of two year's research and
development in association with BAA to withstand the
blast overpressure effects of an explosion, protecting the
occupants from high velocity shards of glass and the
effects of a door being projected into an occupied area.
Testing was carried out by TPS Explosion Engineers in
accordance with GSA and ISO criteria which equates to a
100kg TNT bomb at 45m and 25m distance.
Testing was supervised by TPS Explosion Engineers
according to the US General Services Administration (GSA)
and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO)
standards using a single bomb blast for each test rating.
A bi-parting glazed door with a clear opening of 2020mm
and 2200mm in height was mounted internally to replicate
the weakest location from a bomb blast perspective.
Test 1 was a combined GSA C and ISO EXV 45 - equivalent
to a 100kg TNT explosion at 45m distance. The test door
achieved a Pass grade with a Hazard Category rating of
Very Low Hazard for both test standards.
Construction
The enhanced construction of the Bomb Blast Resistant
door includes:
-
Test 2 was a ISO EXV 25 test - equivalent to a 100kg TNT
explosion at 25m distance. The test door achieved a Pass
grade with Hazard Category rating of Low Hazard.
The test door was also subjected to a sledge hammer
attack simulating forced entry to determine the retained
level of security post explosion.

High Performance Door Solutions (HPDS) provides a comprehensive service for all projects no matter how large
or small. Our commitment to providing the highest level of product support includes the provision of a full project
management service from design to manufacturing, installation and on-going service and maintenance.
Correct installation and a programme of regular maintenance ensures your automatic doors continue to operate at their
optimum efficiency. Our Service and Maintenance contracts are designed to allow you to get the maximum life out of
your automatic door package, giving you peace of mind and with reduced ‘life-cycle’ costs.
Once correctly installed, your Dor-O-Matic automatic
doors should be subject to a regular service to ensure
that the operating mechanism is properly adjusted, that
the sensors are functioning correctly and the doors are
