Grade:
-Summative Assessments: Tests 60%; Quizzes/Projects 30%
Summative assessments are given on Fridays or occasionally during the week. They are
cumulative; meaning anything from the entire year we have learned is fair game to be on the
assessment.
Projects will be given occasionally to supplement unit instruction and assessment.
*You will be given the opportunity to retake two summative assessments each quarter-at your
discretion, but all homework must be completed to do so. Retakes of assessments must be
done prior to the next assessment.
*I do not accept any late work unless you have an excused absence. In the case of an excused
absence, you have 3 days to get the work made up to receive a grade other than 0 on it. (The 3
days includes making up missed assessments. It is your responsibility to get with me about
making these assignments up!)
*All unexcused absences result in a zero for that day. (School Board Policy)
-Daily Assignments & Participation Grade 10%
Homework is assigned daily for practice of concepts learned in class. You are expected to do
homework to be a success in the class. A warm-up/formative assessment will be given at the
beginning of class to ensure success of concepts from the day prior. Feedback will be given on
the formative assessment so that you can make changes as needed prior to the summative
assessment (unit test/quiz).
Participation Grade includes but is not limited to the following: daily assignments/formative
assessments, classroom discussion/questions, preparation for class, etc. The participation grade
is a continually changing grade. Each student begins with 100% each quarter for the
Participation grade. Each day the participation can change depending on completion of
homework.
Participation Grade:

no completion – 3 pts deducted

50% completion- 2 pts deducted

75% completion- 1 pt deducted

100% completion- 0 pts deducted
