Short CV Ilona Heldal Contact details Chalmers University of Technology Dept. of Technology Management and Economics Div. for Technology and Society Vera Sandbergs Allé 8 SE 412 96 Gothenburg Sweden Email: Phone: ilona.heldal@chalmers.se +46 (0)31-772 11 18 (work), +46 (0)731-526313 (mobile) http://www.chalmers.se/tme/SV/organisation/personliga-sidor/heldal-ilona WWW: Research background The basic premises and the main characteristics of collaboration are changing nowadays. Changed market needs, networking and more extensive use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) set new requirements on designing, developing, rolling-out, updating, and using new technologies. To treat current problems and to explore future possibilities for more supportive ICTs, interdisciplinary research is required. The current challenges include issues ranging from social science and humanities to considering technology innovation, development and use. I have performed research in several interdisciplinary projects on the following topics: computer-supported collaborative work, human-computer interaction, social interaction, presence, collaboration, information technology (IT) and co-work for global distributed settings, visualization, and more recently innovation, knowledge transfer, IT adoption in organizations, technology assessment and governance in inter-organizational cooperation, especially for public safety. Research objectives My scientific work aims to define basic requirements and to develop better understanding for more effective and enjoyable collaboration via new technologies. The focus is on distributed communication and collaboration.
