GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The complete luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be
a GE TUNNEL GUARDTM luminaire, ordering number _______
(specify TUN, plus ordering number logic from catalog) or
approved equal, to operate one _______ (specify 70, 100,
150[55V], 200, 250, 310 or 400) watt high pressure sodium
(HPS) lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 240, 277,
347 or 480) volt, 60 Hertz power source and shall be capable
of starting and operating the specified lamp within the limits
specified by the lamp manufacturer. The luminaire shall contain
a completely prewired integral ballast and an optical assembly
with a _______ (specify CBM or SYM according to photometric
selection table) photometric distribution. The luminaire shall be
UL/cUL Listed SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS. Standard construction is IP65.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The luminaire shall include a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum
two-piece housing with an electrocoat acrylic undercoat and
zinc-rich polyester powder charcoal gray paint finish. The door
assembly shall have two slide-on hinges on one side and two
over-center latches on each of the three remaining sides, tempered glass lens and stainless steel external hardware.
The luminaire may be mounted directly on a flat surface or
semi-recessed in the ceiling. For flat surface mounting the fixture shall attach without tools to the mounting plate with two
easy-off hinges and two over-center latches. Stainless steel
angle brackets mount to the sides of the housing for semirecessed mounting.
The luminaire shall be capable of withstanding a 100 psi hosedown for cleaning.
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
The optical assembly shall be fully enclosed and gasketed and
capable of withstanding a 100 psi hosedown. It shall include
a formed aluminum reflector and heat/impact-resistant flat
door glass in a hinged and latched door assembly for notool relamping. The reflector shall have a chemically bonded
lightweight non-breakable ALGLAS® finish on both inside and
outside surfaces providing corrosion resistance, durability and
ease of cleaning.
The optical assembly shall contain a horizontally mounted
_______ specify E39 mogul base socket with lamp grips and
provide low-glare, specialized photometrics.
The luminaire shall have a beam rotation of 0°, 90°, 180° or
270°, depending upon orientation of luminaire on tunnel ceiling
and lighting requirements.
BALLAST OPERATION
The ballast shall be securely mounted on a ballast tray and
secured with a wire bail latch for quick no-tool replacement.
There shall be a plug-in type replaceable ignitor.
The luminaire shall contain a standard _______ (specify) type
ballast* in full compliance with lamp-ballast specifications
available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture manufacture.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the HPS lamp in
ambient temperatures down to -40°F.
The luminaire and ballast shall be from the same manufacturer.
