CGLine, the Safe, Convenient Self-Contained Luminaire System
CEAG Notlichtsysteme GmbH Soest, November 2011 – Cooper CEAG self-contained luminaires
from the CGLine series offer a wide variety of application options. They are available with a variety of
housings and protection ratings and with use of CGLine technology, inspection and documentation,
effort is minimised. Simple control of all luminaires is achieved with the additional use of a higherlevel monitoring system and is accessible remotely from any internet-capable PC.
A fully functional emergency lighting system is essential and for this reason legislators determine
continuous inspection of these lighting installations. This means carrying out a function test at least
once a week. With traditional self-contained luminaires, a push button on the luminaire must be
pressed and the result recorded in a log book. In addition, a duration test has to be carried out once
a year which inspects whether the battery still has sufficient capacity. With a large quantity of luminaires, manual inspection is time consuming and expensive.
Automatic tests and central monitoring simplify inspection
Cooper CEAG has implemented automatic test functionality with all CGLine self-contained luminaires. All luminaire functions are automatically monitored and controlled via a microprocessor and
the specified inspections (function test and duration test) run automatically. Test results can be read
off from a status display directly on the luminaire and, with the aid of a central monitoring unit, are
saved to an SD card as an electronic log book for a period of four years. In addition, further functions
such as the blocking of luminaires in idle operating times as required by standards become possible.
Depending on the size of the emergency lighting installation and the existing infrastructure, CEAG
offers three variants for central monitoring: the CGLine Controller 400 (a closed system for up to 400
luminaires); the CGLine Web Interface (display of up to 400 luminaires in a web browser); and
CGVision (central visualisation of up to eight web interfaces on a PC). In this way a larger project
with up to 3,200 self-contained luminaires can be monitored.

Convenient commissioning
Manual addressing of the luminaires with CGLine systems isn't necessary as all CGLine luminaires
are supplied with a unique address (ID). In addition, each luminaire can be assigned a numerical
short address (1-100) and a unique name (up to 20 characters) during configuration. In this way it's
possible, for example, to adapt the designation according to planning documents. All CGLine luminaires are generally suitable both for maintained and non-maintained operation.
The right housing variant for any application
CGLine self-contained luminaires are offered in a wide spectrum of housing versions as safety and
escape sign luminaires and are available in plastic, aluminium and panel luminaires as downlights
and as luminaires with high protection ratings. The portfolio has a new addition with the GuideLed
self-contained luminaire family with optimised LED optics, low connected loads, and a long service
life of 50,000 hours.
