Concept Design Competition for
HOCHIMINH CITY, ARCHITECTURE UNIVERSITY (HUA) 2005-2006

INTRODUCTION
Hochiminh City
The Architecture University of Hochiminh City hold this international
competition for a new campus located in the suburb of Hochiminh City due
to capacity problem of the current urban one.
The project was undertaken with the partipation of 2 teams: Japanese &
Vietnamese.
After 2 rounds (Jan 2006 & Mar 2006), our proposal won the competition
DESIGN CONCEPT
and is going to be executed. The execution design begins in Aug 2006.
The essence of this University is the activity. The space proposed
intends to (active) the (activity)
Site Area : 34 ha
The proposal utilizes nature in developing the design scheme. Gently
Floor Area : 8 ha
controlling the wind, water,light and vegetation to allow the environment
Average Height : 2F
to co-exist with technology. Unlike 20th century technology that
fabricated artifical environments.
This is my first big project working as a team.
CREDITS
Compare to assignments in school, this project was a brand new atmosphere
with a demand of team work and much higher level in both design and

My Diploma Project was in the middle of the 1st and 2nd round of the
competition. Experiences earning in this project became extremely useful

In order to avoid direct sunlight, the shelter is made of 2 layers: outside louver layer and inside
wall + glasswindow layer.
