The Compact, stand-alone data logger with internal

The Salt Meter operates by measuring resistance
in electrical current and hence determines the
conductive characteristics of the medium. As the
salt content level directly affects resistance, the
meter gives an excellent indication of salt content in
appropriate food media.
Raw and cooked meat, poultry and fish with satisfactory
moisture levels retained, are entirely suited to the use of
the VSSX210 meter. Salads and moist cheeses also can
be included along with a wide range of sauces, fondues
etc that are required to be assessed for salt content.

This meter depends on the presence of moisture in
or on the measured medium and does not measure
salt as a total mass. It produces a reliable but arbitrary
reading against a taste/appearance standard acceptable
to the producer. Once this has been determined
the reading displayed becomes the datum point
against which all product is tested. Allowing a band of
tolerance of, say, ±3 digits either side, makes for ease
of decision in quality control.
