NEXgulf is indoor, metal-clad switchgear designed for the MV section
of HV/MV, MV/MV and MV/LV substations.
The switching devices are of the metalclad withdrawable type.

Quality Assurance and environment
Strict and systematic checks
During its manufacture, each NEXgulf is subject to systematic routine
testing, intended to check both quality and conformity:
measuring of operating torque,
dielectric test,
testing of safety systems and interlocks,
testing of low voltage components,
conformity with drawings and diagrams.
The results obtained are given by the quality control department for each
panel.

General overview
NEXgulf is an indoor, metal-clad switchgear designed with different
degrees of protection up to IP 4X, in accordance with IEC 60529.
Construction
all the metal surfaces are produced with anti-corrosion protected sheet
steel in accordance to ISO 5002,
paint: epoxy powder polymerized at high temperature,
non metallic components are self-extinguishing,
supports: cast resign with high electrical and mechanical performance,
NEXgulf has different degrees of protection (up to IP4X) in accordance
with IEC 60529.
In addition to the metallic low voltage compartment which comprises all
control & monitoring devices, NEXgulf consists of four main compartments
separated by metallic partitions:

Cubicle description
Cable connection and VTs compartment
This compartment is easily accessible from the back of the panel:
connection by cables,
voltage transformers are fully withdrawable types,
current transformers: MV block CTs, Ring CTs or MV low power CTs.
Busbar compartment
With flat copper bars and no fragile parts, this compartment requires no special
maintenance under normal operating conditions.

Pressure relief
general structure is designed so that the expanding gas developed in
case of a short circuit shall be directed in a safe direction through special
flaps to ensure personal safety,
this provision (flaps) is provided for each compartment,

Vacuum circuit breaker
Evolis circuit breaker
from 1 to 17.5 kV with vacuum technology
Evolis circuit breaker equips the cubicles type IF11, IF12, C11 and C12
for voltage values of between 7.2 kV and 17.5 kV.
Evolis circuit breaker is used to protect & control MV public or industrial
distribution networks.
High electrical endurance
A magnetic field is applied in the axis of the vacuum interrupter contacts.
The process maintains the arc in diffused mode even at current values.
It ensures optimal dispersion of the energy over the contact surface and
avoids localized temperature rise.
The advantages of this technique are:
a very compact vacuum interrupter,
low energy dissipation of the arc in the vacuum interrupters.
Evolis is in conformity with the highest electrical endurance class
(IEC62271-100: class E2).
High mechanical endurance
This magnetic field is generated by a patented external coil which surrounds the contact zone.
This solution provides many advantages:
a simplified and therefore reliable vacuum interrupter,
heavy duty contacts which do not distort during repeated switching
operations,
considerable reduction in control mechanism energy.
The Masterpact control mechanism used on Evolis provides the
benefits of a system that has proven itself for over 10 years on
hundreds of thousands of installations.
Evolis is in conformity with most demanding mechanical endurance
class (IEC 62271-100: class M2).

Sepam series 40
The power of a multifunctional digital unit
Sepam is more than a simple protection relay; it is truly multifunctional unit
using state of the art digital technology, offering:
circuit breaker diagnosis functions (operating counter and operating time,
recharging time, cumulated broken2A),
direct circuit breaker control matching with all types of release unit,
remote equipment operation using the modbus communication protocol.
Sepam series 20, series 40 and series 80 can be connected on 1 A / 5 A
conventional CTs or Low Power CTs as defined by the new IEC
standard 60044-8.
Sepam series 80
Low power CT type sensor for Sepam-CLP1
the CLP1 sensors are voltage-output current sensors of the Low Power
Current Transducer (LPCT) type, compliant with the IEC 60044-8 standard,
the CLP1 sensor is designed to measure rated current between 100 A
and 1250 A, with a ratio of 100 A / 22.5 mV, and may be used on networks
with a maximum voltage of 17.5 kV.
The same sensor measures phase currents from 100 A to 1250 A.

Sepam is a range of digital protection, monitoring and control units and is
at the centre of the protection, monitoring & control system for NEXgulf
functional units: all the necessary protection, metering, control, monitoring
and signalling functions are carried out by Sepam.
Like the NEXgulf range, the Sepam range is a range of units defined to
provide an optimal solution for each application and includes:
Sepam S type: substation incomer and feeder,
Sepam B type: bussectioning,
Sepam T type: transformer feeder,
Sepam M type: motor feeder,
Sepam C type: capacitor feeder,

Measurement & Control
Power monitoring and control devices
The PowerLogic Power Meter is a cost effective, high performance meter.
It can operate as a stand-alone device or as part of the power monitoring
and control system from Schneider Electric: the PowerLogic system (1).
Essential power monitoring
revenue-class; accuracy 0.1 % current / voltage,
on-board memory for energy consumption analysis,
on-board clock / calendar for time / date stamping.
Application flexibility
separate meter and display modules,
direct-connect up to 600 V: higher voltages with PTs.
Other devices, such as the PowerLogic Circuit Monitor Ionmeters, are
availablefor MV & LV networks. Main functions include comprehensive
power monitoring, power quality analysis, recording and optional
input and output control.
Earthing Switch
An earthing switch is used to earth and short-circuit the cable ends before
work is performed on the cable. The switch incorporates the following:
designed for making capacity,
a fast-acting closing mechanism independent of the operator,
a locking device which will not allow it to be operated until the circuit
breaker has been opened and withdrawn,
3 voltage capacitive dividers incorporated into the insulators which
support the terminal plates, and connected to three “neon” indicators
mounted on the front plate, to indicate whether the cables are live or dead.
Voltage Presence Indicating Systems are in compliance to IEC 61958.
