Our vision is embarking on the systematic expansion of our regional market leader position through growth as well as
through acquisitions and joint ventures in the core business and the strengthening of our metering activities.
MIM always invested into our R&D for new product and technology
developments and this has led us to be at the forefront of metering
technologies. MIM has tied up several joint research collaboration
agreements to further enhance our R&D activities with organizations
such as Landis+Gyr, University Technology Petronas (UTP) and Panasonic.
The meters were designed to the international standards IEC 61036:1996,
IEC 62052-11:2003, IEC 62053-21:2003, & BS 5685. The meters have been type tested and certified by Yadav Measurements in India
and Parkside Laboratories Ltd in New Zealand (now known as Underwriters
Laboratories International NZ). Our aim is to help the customers in lowering
their cost of doing business in the highly competitive energy market. Our Research and Development Laboratory is ever busy in developing new product
that can meet every changing customer’s requirements.
Hence, we have developed our latest product, three phase whole current meter
known as METRONIX “SMART”. The product has been type tested under IEC
62052-11:2003, IEC 62053-21:2003 and IEC 62053-23:2003 by Underwriters Laboratories International NZ.

Our calibration and testing laboratory is accredited to MS
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 under the scope of Calibration and
Testing. We are also implementing Quality Management
System covering 5S, Autonomous Maintenance, Statistical
Process Control and Value Stream Mapping. We also practices stringent AQL standards on all our material handling
and production process.
MIM is very proud to bring our 100% Malaysian technology
to several foreign countries over the past several years,
where our products are now present in Indonesia, Thailand,
Bangladesh, Iran, Philippines, Yemen and Pakistan.

Manufacturing
The production plant to produce MIM meter has been set up in a build up area out of 52,000 square feet located at Temasya Industrial Park in Shah Alam and it has the capacity to
produce 40,000 units of 1 Phase meter and 28,000 units of 3 Phase
meter per month during mass production.
MIM production is focusing on final manufacturing of the
product. Few suppliers have been selected to participate in MIM
sub vendor program. The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and the
component insertions are conducted in-house at MIM. The design of the PCB was internally designed to cater the entire production requirement and has gone through all the processes
needed to produce a PCB. The PCB comes in 1-ounce doublesided FR4 copper layer and with a UL-94 characteristic. In order
to meet the quality requirement and standard of the product the
In Circuit Test (ICT) will be perform to every unit before assembling the components. The components insertion and assembly
are done in four different processes of SMT, Auto Insert, Manual
Insert, Auto Soldering (Using Wave soldering) and finally manual
solders. Upon completion, each of the PCB will go for Functionality Circuit Test FCT) to test it functionality. Most of the components to be assembling inside the meter can be easily outsource.
Nevertheless, there are a few components, which are fully customized for the meter, which are the Shunt, Relay and the Liquid Crystal Display.
For both types of meters, the same moulds will be used for the casing. There are inclusive of 6-difference mould, which
consist of Base, Top Cover, Terminal Cover, Terminal Holder, Window and Push Button and are injected with Polycarbonate V-0 material. There will be lock-in position for the reply inside the casing
to cater with the prepayment meter. Each mould is capable to produce up to 300,000 to 350,000 cycles of meters casing using
injection-moulding process The final assembly, calibration, testing and packaging of the product are done in our factory. The production of products will be
done complete with calibration and testing in order to comply with
all the standards and specifications required by power utility standardized international standard. Malaysian Intelligence Meters
Sdn. Bhd. is collaborating with TNB Research in developing the test and calibration equipment that is required for mass
calibration and testing procedures. In year 2007, MIM’s Calibration and Testing Laboratory has been accredited with MS
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 which ensures high precision and quality of meters. In 2009, MIM has implemented 5S standards for
all of our manufacturing zones. We have also implemented Autonomous Maintenance system and Visual Stream Mapping system. We are now moving towards certification of ISO 1400 to ensure our product will soon become Green Technology compliant.
