Research Overview on global research activities of AOSpine International AOSpine Research Our research vision is aligned to the overall vision for research in the AO Foundation: ‘To produce new findings and to develop them into practice such that they impact clinical care in accordance with the AO Mission and Vision in continuous and overlapping cycles in order to produce at least one successful outcome every 5-10 years.’ Clinical Research Translational Research AOSpine Mentorship - Research The Knowledge Forums are expert surgeondriven working groups focused on five spine pathologies: tumor, deformity, spinal cord injury (SCI), trauma, and degenerative disease. Important evidence-based studies are being performed and our first results have already been published. AOSpine members have exclusive access to the latest advances and outcomes produced by the Knowledge Forums that will assist them in clinical decision-making. Spine Research Network (SRN). The SRN is AOSpine’s platform for intervertebral disc research. Represented by Prof. Mauro Alini, the SRN is composed of 28 AOSpine investigators worldwide. It is open to any AOSpine investigator who has previously received or is currently holding an AO research grant and is conducting research pertaining to intervertebral disc degeneration and regeneration. After the big success of the first AOSpine Research mentoring program in 2014, we are very pleased to announce a new round for 2016 with slight modifications. This improved and ambitious program is aimed to teach a whole team of surgeons in a local hospital how to perform clinical research. The team will receive theoretical lessons and practical support to perform their own clinical study. AOSpine Research centers around the globe 2 AOSpine Research Commission The AOSpine Research Commission is responsible for running our global research initiatives, sharing expertise, and leveraging resources across regions. This body defines, integrates, and implements coherent policies beneficial for the entire organization. Shanmuganathan Rajasekaran K.
