Drilling Standards & Enforcers • Drilling Engineers • Drilling Training Quality Assurance Technicians The primary service offered by T H Hill Associates is the third-party monitoring or witnessing of the inspection, assembly and testing of down hole drilling equipment, casing and handling tools in the oil and gas industry. This service is performed by our Quality Assurance Technicians in various oil and gas producing locations around the globe. Quality Assurance Technicians work on a 24/7 on-call basis and are dispatched from their homes to various tool shops, pipe yards and other locations in accordance with the needs of our customers. The reason for our existence is simple- we add value to our customer’s operations by mitigating the risk of costly down hole tool failures. This is accomplished by making sure that their equipment is inspected, assembled and tested according to DS-1®, proprietary, and customer standards prior to being released for use in drilling and completion operations. Our services are so valuable within the industry that we were recently acquired by Bureau Veritas to serve as their Quality Assurance element within the down hole drilling side of the oil and gas industry. When an oil and gas Operator makes the decision to drill an oil well, they spend millions of dollars on purchasing or renting equipment to do so. More often than not, this equipment is used under unknown conditions and ordered through a vendor company who readies the equipment for continued use. In order to make sure that equipment is suitable for additional use, a variety of inspection methods must be performed, including various non-destructive testing techniques. The DS-1®, written and maintained by T H Hill Associates, is a global standard by which this type of equipment is to be inspected. To promote and maintain compliance with DS-1 standards, our technicians are dispatched on behalf of the customer to be their eyes and ears in the field. If our technicians notice something wrong or a procedure being performed improperly, it is their job to intervene and ensure that the process returns to the steps and requirements outlined in the appropriate procedures and customer requirements. This must be done with tact and professionalism to maintain the dignity of all those involved in the process of preparing the equipment. When performed correctly, these processes reduce the likelihood of faulty equipment being sent to a rig thus reducing the likelihood of a down hole tool failure. By working with everyone, including a team of Project Managers, Engineers, and other support staff, our Technicians are able to perform their job with confidence while continuing to add value to our customer’s operations. 13100 Wortham Center Drive, Suite 300 • Houston, Texas 77065 • Tel (281) 671-5700 • www.thhill.com T H HILL ASSOCIATES, INC. Drilling Standards & Enforcers • Drilling Engineers • Drilling Training Upon completion of each job, our Quality Assurance Technicians produce a detailed technical report outlining all aspects of the job from start to finish which contains all information relevant and important to the customer. When complete, this report is provided to the customer for their records in the event of a failure investigation or other event requiring documentation and traceability. As such, it is important that our Technicians be proficient in not only verbal communication, but written as well.
