Q6 Series Power Supply Center (PSC)
50W - 1800W
The Q6 Series is the first and only transformer designed and UL
listed to be mounted in 6 positions. Typical transformers are only UL listed to be
mounted in the vertical position, but the Q6 allows flexibility of mounting the
transformer in any of 6 positions. The Q6 also offers dual taps to compensate
for voltage drop, a standard choke to reduce noise and in-rush current, as
well as Q-Tran quality at a competetive price. Other features and benifits
include a 10-year warranty, 95% + efficiency, safety along with different
mounting features including rod suspension and an optional J-Box
mounting plate.

3.1"H with 5 knockouts. Built-in mounting bracket is
designed for easy installation for both 6 planes of surface
mounting and suspension by two 1/4” threaded rods.
Standard finish is white powder coat.
Toroidal Transformer - Dual Tap (DT)
The Q6 Series Power Supply Center, utilizes two (2) primary taps
(12V, 13V or 24V, 26V). Loads may be connected to one (1) of
the primary taps up to the full watt rating of the Power Supply Center.
The advantage is that the PSC can be tapped to recover voltage drop
and produce between 85%-100% light output. See volatge drop
calculator on page 10.
Secondary Circuit
Protected by up to three magnetic circuit breakers.
Appropriate size to the feed load per N.E.C. Article 411 (not
to exceed 25 amps per load). All wiring by a certified
electrical contractor must be Class 1 compliant to N.E.C.
Chapter 3. Available in 5A, 10A, 12.5A, 15A, 20A, and 25A.

Quieter ...
Many clients are very sensitive to noise and insist on a no noise guarantee. Many spaces today have ambient
levels as low as 25 dB. When dimmed, most standard lighting transformers are well above 40dB, so from the table
below, you can decide if Q-Tran is “quiet”. We think so.
Q-Tran had an acoustic noise test performed using a Q6S300
and a Q6M600 in Q-Tran’s state-of-the-art anachoic chamber.
Ambient noise in the chamber was 17.dB. With the
microphone only 3 feet away Q-Tran was...

Standard Lighting Transformers do not operate Low Voltage at optimum light levels. The Power
Supply Centers (PSC), developed and manufactured by Q-Tran, are the first transformer systems specifically
designed for today’s low voltage lighting and its unique installation requirements. The heart of the PSC system is
a Torodial Multi-Volt Transformer. A Toroid is known for its small size, superior voltage regulation, quiet operation,
high efficiency, cool operating temperature and its ability to take the stress of dimming.

Multi-Volt toroidal transformers offer superior lamp performance by allowing the Q-Tran Power Supply Centers
to adapt to field conditions, ensuring that proper voltage is received at the lamp. Q-Tran transformers can operate
on a 12V system at 12 or 13 volts (24 or 26 volts for a 24 volt systems) which enables the system to compensate
for voltage drop from dimmer loss, load size, and resistance without increasing the wire size.
Dimmer - At full bright a dimmer has a 6V+ drop (120V in - 114 out) which significantly lowers light output.
Load Size - As determined by the NEC, the max load per run is 300W @ 12V and 600W @ 24V. The higher the
watts per run the greater the loss of light.
Wire Length - Larger wire gauge will help in keeping light loss to a minimum. See Voltage drop calculator.
