1.
The Government of the Republic of Kenya has received credit from the International Development Association
(IDA) towards the cost of the Kenya Electricity Modernization Project (KEMP). It is intended that part of the
proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract.
2.
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for: KP1/6E.2/
PT/3/16/A49: Supply of Conductor 75mm2 ACSR, 50mm2 AA HD Bare Conductor & 10mm2 Concentric
Aluminum Cables With 2-Core Copper Communication Cable: Details of the conductors and cables being

The bidder may bid for package A one or more lots and/or package B one or more lots.

Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the
World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans
and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers, “published by the Bank in January 2011 (Revised
July 2014) “Procurement Guidelines”), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement
Guidelines. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on
conflict of interest.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from The Kenya Power and Lighting Company
Limited and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 0900 to 1600 hours, Monday
to Friday excluding public holidays.

A complete set of bidding documents in English may be downloaded without any fee by interested bidders
at www.kplc.co.ke or purchased at the address below upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KShs. 1,000
or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be Cash or Bankers
Cheque, payable at the Chief Accountant’s Office, KPLC, Stima Plaza, 1st Floor, and receipt obtained.
6.
The delivery period is 3 to 6 months and for details, refer to section VII of the Bid Documents.
7.
Qualifications requirements Refer to Section III of the bidding document.
8.
Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 30th May, 2016 at 10.00 a.m. Late bids will be
rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the
address below on 30th May, 2016 at 10.00 a.m. (local time).
9.
All bids MUST be accompanied by a Bid Security of not less than the indicated amount on each lot or
equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
