Rent
Your responsibilities
Your rent and service charges are due fortnightly in advance. We set your
rent at an affordable rate which is calculated depending on the size and
type of your home.
Paying your rent and service charges are some of the most important
obligations of your Tenancy Agreement; you should make sure that both
are paid on time.
This leaflet explains how you can pay your rent and what you should do if
you are unable to pay.
How can I pay my rent?
Our promise to you
You can request a rent account statement at any time, or you can
check your statement on our website. We will also send you a quarterly
statement of your rent account so that you can check your account
status. If there are any changes to your rent we will give you four weeks
notice. It is our responsibility to identify and support customers who are
struggling with debts and ensuring that they are advised appropriately.
To make life easier for you, we offer several ways to pay your rent and
service charges.
Direct Debit
This is the most convenient way of paying. Your rent will be paid monthly
and you can choose to pay on either the 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th of each
month. Without the worry of having to remember to pay their rent, more
and more customers are switching to Direct Debit.
Giro Card
You can make a payment at any Post Office using your Giro Card.
If you lose or misplace your Giro Card please call the Rents Team on
01626 322720 for a replacement.

Pay by Cheque
If you have a bank or building society account you can pay by cheque, if
you would like to do this on a regular basis, we can provide you with pre
paid envelopes on request.
At the Office
You can visit Teign Housing’s office and pay by cash, cheque, debit or
credit card. Our office is open Monday - Thursday 8.30am-5pm.
Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
You can make a payment by debit or credit card with a simple telephone
call. You can do this from the comfort of your own home. Please ring
01626 322720.
What should I do if I can’t pay my rent?
Internet
This can be a convenient way to pay from home or work if you have access
to the internet. Log onto www.teignhousing.co.uk and follow the simple
step by step instructions on paying your rent.
We take rent and service charge arrears very seriously. If you do not pay
your rent, or contact us to resolve the problem, we will have to take
enforcement action which could lead to court and possible possession of
your home.
Standing Order
Help and advice
By setting up a standing order, you can make payments weekly, fortnightly
or monthly. Once set up this is a convenient way to pay, but you will need
to remember to change your standing order whenever your rent changes.
If you are worried about money or debt please contact the Rents Team
on 01626 322720, or email: info@teignhousing.co.uk. We are always
happy to offer help and advice regarding your rent account and will
be able to tell you about services that Teign Housing and some of our
partners offer.
Contact the Rents Team immediately on 01626 322720. If your
circumstances change, or you are going away, then we can help you.
