Ubiquity Mobile Functionality
Ubiquity Mobile Description
Ubiquity Mobile is our custom application which is used with a PDA (Palm or Pocket PC) or laptop
PC to locally access a networked TCS Basys Controls control system. The application is menu
driven and allows the user to load, view, and edit various programming and monitoring
parameters within the control system. Ubiquity Mobile can be used to access an entire network of
controls or an individual controller, as needed.
Neither the PC nor PDA integrates directly with the QD2040 Site Communications Center to use
Ubiquity Mobile. Rather, Ubiquity Mobile resides on the PDA or PC which then connects via a
cable to a QD1010 (RS232-to-RS485 converter). Then, a second cable connects the QD1010 to
a single controller or network of controllers. However, if the PDA or PC has a web browser
installed, it could connect directly to the QD2040 (in standalone mode) using a cross-over cable
and utilize the QD2040’s internal Ubiquity browser-based software.
Basic Functions of Ubiquity Mobile Include:
•
•
•
•
•
Programming of all controllers
Monitoring controller inputs and outputs
Modifying controller addresses
Creating and modifying schedules
Setting time and date on controllers (if applicable)
