GPSW100 Meanwell Power Supply Conversion
Use the following instructions to change the unvented power supply to a Meanwell power
supply.
Verify that you have the wires and screws that you need in the package containing the
Meanwell power supply. You should have four Philips head screws with flat washers,
one green, white, and black wire for AC, and one black and red wire for DC. If you have
a swing gate, the green, white and black wires for AC will be unused.
Verify that the selector switch on the Meanwell power supply is set for 115 VAC.
2
Turn the power switch OFF on the operator.
Turn the AC power OFF at the circuit breaker.
Disconnect the red & black wires from the battery posts that go to the motor drive board
and remove the batteries from the cabinet.
Disconnect the red and black DC wires from the motor drive board that go to the
unvented power supply.
3
Cut the Ty-wrap securing the AC cable that goes from the unvented power supply to the
conduit that goes out of the back of the housing. Also cut the Ty-wrap under the battery
tray toward the back of the housing
Cut the AC cable that supplies 120 VAC to the unvented power supply as close to the
power supply as you can.
Strip the AC cable to expose the green, white, and black AC wires.
4
Unscrew the bolts connecting the unvented power supply using a 3 mm hex key and
remove the unvented power supply.
Connect the black DC wire provided to the motor drive board together with the black
wire that goes to the negative battery post.
Connect the red DC wire provided to the motor drive board together with the red wire
that goes to the positive battery post.
5
Place the Meanwell power supply inside the cabinet on the battery tray.
Strip the green wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC.
Strip the white wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC.
6
Strip the black wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC.
Connect the green wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC to the Ground
terminal of the Meanwell power supply.
Connect the white wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC to the N or
neutral terminal of the Meanwell power supply.
7
Connect the black wire coming from the AC cable that provides 120 VAC to the L or line
terminal of the Meanwell power supply.
Connect the black wire coming from the motor drive board to the –V terminal on the
Meanwell power supply.
Connect the red wire coming from the motor drive board to the +V terminal on the
Meanwell power supply.
Replace the cover on the terminal block on the Meanwell power supply.
8
Reposition the Meanwell power supply to its proper location and use the Phillips head
screws provided to bolt the power supply to the housing.
Check the battery voltage to ensure that you have over 10 VDC in each battery. If the
battery voltage on each battery is lower than 10 VDC, you will need to recharge them on
a trickle charger at 12 VDC 2 amps.
9
Restore AC power and turn the power switch ON.
To check the DC output of the power supply, be sure that the red wire that goes to the
motor drive board from the positive battery post is disconnected and check the voltage
across the red and black wires that go to the motor drive board
10
The output of the power supply should be 27.8 VDC. If the DC voltage output of the
power supply is not between 27.5 and 28.3, then use the adjustment screw and a Philips
head screw driver by the terminal block of the Meanwell power supply to adjust the DC
voltage output within range.
Once you have verified that the power supply is working properly, reconnect the red and
black DC wires from the motor drive board to the positive and negative battery posts that
you previously disconnected.
Return to normal operations.
