COMMERCIAL STATISTICAL PLAN (CSP) CODES
The Group 1 causes of loss (“Fire”) rate for a building and an occupant’s personal property is based on the CSP code
applicable to the building. The CSP codes are listed below. An asterisk (*) means that risks so classified are subject to
class rating if meeting other criteria for such rating; others are subject to specific rating.
If subject to class rating, when the insured’s business is located in an apartment-mercantile, multiple occupancy
mercantile, or office building, rating for the insured’s personal property depends upon a “Contents Group” (A, B or C)
which is determined from the CSP code applicable to the insured’s occupancy. The applicable Contents Group is stated
following the CSP code.
Example: If there is a drug store in a class rated multiple occupancy mercantile building without a furniture
occupant, the CSP code is 0581 for both building coverage and personal property coverage for the drug store; the
drug personal property coverage is subject to rating at Contents Group B.
