14.2 Constant voltage regulation (CV)

U

V

U

V

The output current is always set to maximum (10A). Therefore the unit is always working in constant voltage mode (CV).

The output current is depending on the resistance of the connected plating tank and the actual output voltage.

The regulation is trying to keep the output voltage at the defined level by reducing or increasing the current value.

If the resistance of the tank is increasing the output current is going to be decreased.

If the resistance of the tank is decreasing the output current is going to be increased.

Please take care that the correct monitoring mode (under or over current) is set, depending on the requirements of the actual plating process and the expected behavior of the tank resistance.

Use the voltage UP / DOWN keys to set the output voltage

The output voltage and the output current are shown on the display

U

V

After two seconds without key actuation the display returns to normal operating screen showing the actual output values.

15 The RDY and ERR keys

In normal

“ready for operating mode the LED in the RDY-key shows the operation “ state of the device (READY).

Special feature:

If the RDY key is pressed longer than 3 seconds an internal test routine is started (confirm the yes / no-request with F4, or cancel with the current-down key). The actually activated DC output is disabled while the test routine is running. Instead of the plating tank an internal resistor of

0.5 Ohm is connected to the output. You can check the voltage setting in this mode.

Attention:

While the test routine is running the tank output is disconnected (no protective potential at the DC output).

Press the CLR key to terminate the test routine. If there is no key actuation the test routine is stopped automatically after two minutes.

The LED in operation.

the ERR key lights up if the unit is not ready for

The key switch has no function.

16 The MMC card reader (optional)

The MMC card reader is located to the left in the connecting box.

By using a MMC card (32MB to 1GB) the internal control software of the system can be actualized if new versions are available.

Please ask the service team form plating electronic to get more information about this option.

Additional to the update function, the MMC card can be used to export or import settings to / from other stations.

Please follow the instructions on the screen that appears if a >MMC card is inserted.

If the RS485 BUS interface is installed, the MMC card function can be used to log the BUS protocol activity.

18 Preventative maintenance

The PROTEKTOSTAT does not need any preventive maintenance.

Repairs and services are only to be done by the manufactures.

Attention:

There are components inside the casing carrying high voltage for at least

5 minutes after turning off.

Without casing, the rectifier has protecting grade IP00. It is dangerous to open the casing because of the possibility touching high voltage carrying parts. Therefore it is not permitted to use the rectifier without protection against touching.

Pay attention:

It is prohibited to carry out any kind of constructive changes on the rectifier!

Please check:

Make sure that the supply cables are directly connected to your mains supply.

Do not wire the power supply or the high-current cables into a roll or bind the supply and the high-current wiring together with other wires.

Otherwise overheating is possible.
