The Tool
Installing and commissioning new
networks requires validation of
infrastructure messaging, optimization of site parameters and
general verification of operation.
Expanding networks have similar
requirements, often with more
constraints. New handoff algorithms must be evaluated and
implemented. Coverage and interference need to be verified and
neighbor lists must be managed
to ensure peak performance and
customer satisfaction.
WALKABOUT analog portable
test tools are highly flexible data
collection systems designed for
vehicular and pedestrian/inbuilding environments. Two analog models are extremely useful
to performance engineering or
operations and maintenance staff
during installation, optimization
or maintenance of NAMPS or
ETACS wireless networks.
WALKABOUT’s compact, portable
configuration makes surveying
more convenient and easier than
ever before. Its high scanning
rate and co-channel interference
analysis capabilities provide
more accurate data than other
portable alternatives.

Standardized test plans can be
set up with WALKABOUT, which
can be repeated whenever desired.
These surveys may be used to
benchmark network performance
and provide operators a historical perspective.
WALKABOUT’s run on Windows®
and are available for all major
technologies. Their open architecture generates files compatible
with the OPAS32 software and
other post-processing analysis
software.

The analog WALKABOUT provides an integrated solution to view the analog air interface.
In-building surveys are simple and allow for automated real-time analysis. System performance
may be assessed from the subscriber's perspective by focusing on the call statistics view.
Traditional coverage and interference can be assessed using the Scanner and Carrier-toInterferer views.
