1
1. What preconditions have to be fulfilled?


To use the Online Services you need to have a SIM card inserted into the main head unit, between the 2 SD-card
slots.
The Hands free Modus (HFP) does not allow access the Online Services. It does not transmit data.
2. How can I configure the SIM card settings?




For SIMs, which are not yet known to the system, a configuration might be necessary.
This is not valid for the SIMs provided by Audi/T-Mobile. Their APN is “m2m.t-mobile.com” (user name and
password are not required). This APN will be recognized by the system automatically.
At initial connection, or while changing a SIM, the online connection should be configured. To do so, select
“Configure” under ‘Online Service.’
If the automatic configuration does not work, the data must be entered manually. See next how to enter APN
settings in the next point.
2
3. How can I change the APN settings for a SIM card that was not recognized automatically?


Go to Telephone/Settings/Connections/Data connection/Connection settings
Contact your mobile carrier/service provider for the following data: APN, user name, password, etc.
3
4. Do I have to confirm a connection?
This depends on the Telephone/Settings/Data connection/Connection settings. Three options are available:
“Prompt” (default), “No Prompt”, or “Never”:
a) If the settings are set to “Prompt”, the user has to confirm the data usage of every application/feature once after
a new start
b) if the settings are set to “Never”, no data connection will build up.
A customer who tries to use Online Services gets one of the following screens:
c) If the settings are set to “No prompt”, the user has to confirm the data usage once each time the MMI is powered
on
4
In addition and independently from the Data Connection settings there is a disclaimer for the Online Info Services (only
there). This driver distraction disclaimer is shown after each new attempt (once after each start) to load the Online Info
Services and the user has to confirm it.
5. What does “The page could not be loaded/the Internet connection could not be established/
Google Earth is not online” mean?
This shows that data connection is not possible.
This could be temporarily caused by the net topology.
5
Potential reasons:
 No SIM card
 SIM card broken
 no reception/coverage
 SIM-card does not allow data transmission
(data services should be tested with the dealer demo SIM card)
 wrong access data (e.g. wrong APN)
 cell does not allow more users at that time
 no network
 provider not reachable
 Antenna broken (permanently no reception indication)
To get a hint, follow the link “Online status overview“
6
also available under Telephone/Settings/Connections/Data connection/Online status overview:
If this is a permanent problem, conduct the following:

Only for software between SOP 02/11 and SOP 22/11:
Cancel active connection and restart by using one of the Online services
7

Turn off data module and turn it on again


use a phone and the vehicle SIM to connect to the internet (using the car´s settings like APN)
if this was successful check the connection data in the car (APN etc.)
o APN for the T-Mobile SIM must be m2m.t-mobile.com
(see point 2)
o APNs for other SIMs must be clarified between the user and his carrier
if this was not successful, the SIM is not allowed to use the data connection. Contact the service provider

6. What do the icons in the status bar mean?
SOP 02/11 software: there are 2 places for Audi connect icons. The one for the Google Earth sign in different grays, the
other one for the connection icon (2G/3G/no connection).
Google Earth starting up

4. myAudi Destinations.
How can I access the myAudi destinations from the myAudi portal?
Preconditions:
1. The vehicle must be registered in “myAudi” (my.audiusa.com).
Correspondent manual: https://securewww.audi.com/etc/medialib/ngw/service/myaudi_guided_tour.Par.0010.File.pdf
2. The vehicle pairing must have been successful. (Pairing Code = myAudi PIN generated)
3. The vehicle must be paired; e.g. after a online connection the Code must have been put in once by the
customer
If the vehicle VIN was not yet added you get this message:
17
4. The destination must have been sent by the external side (Google Maps) to Audi using the username used in
myAudi, or the address must have been added to the customer’s myAudi account.

In myAudi single content sources for destinations (currently only Google Maps) can be blocked. This shouldn´t be
used if destinations should be possible to send to the Audi server and downloadable from the vehicle.
18
In principle there are 2 ways of using the myAudi destinations in the car:
1. Import them in the car´s directory (only if a phone is connected):
 Telephone/Directory/Memory/Import contacts/myAudi account
 Navigation/Destination/Directory/Memory/Import contacts/myAudi account
2. Use “Online Destinations”
Go to Destinations -> Online destinations -> “Find destinations from myAudi Account

A successful download of destinations would look like this (here only one destination):
19

The pairing code has to be put in again after a change of the SIM card or after factory reset of “directory” or after
connecting a new phone via Bluetooth (as these services are personalized it is connected to a phone when one
was connected at the time of entering the myAudi PIN).

The pairing code can be read out in the personalized myAudi Account on the audiusa.com portal.

To access the pairing code (PIN), the customer must login to my.audiusa.com/, click on their vehicle type on the
left (Ex: "A8"), and click on "Set up My Destinations"
