Going forward, secure $4 million or more in gifts annually for the Law Fund. Your unrestricted gifts to Stanford Law School enable extraordinary opportunities for our students that would otherwise be impossible. Each year, the Law Fund supports many activities enjoyed by students that enrich their academic experience. Most importantly, the Law Fund helps to bridge the gap between support from tuition and the endowment, and the actual cost of running the school. –Susan Champion, JD ’11 Financial Aid vs. Income $11.8M $11.5M $3,165,833 $8,253,970 $3,295,643 Student Services Administration 3% The Miles and Nancy Rubin Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) provides support for students who elect to pursue a career in public service, without having to manage the burden of their law school loans on a public service salary. The LRAP program makes possible a wide variety of career choices for graduates committed to working in public interest. Nearly twenty-five years after its inauguration, Stanford’s LRAP program continues to set the standard for such programs at peer institutions. I relied on financial aid to bridge the gap between what I could afford and the cost of tuition, as did 65 percent of my peers. As I look forward to a career in the public sector, annual gifts from alumni have allowed me to have a powerful experience in the clinical program, and to pursue a career path of my choosing, not simply of necessity. 13% 18% 11% Projected Need $11.3M External Relations (includes scholarships, summer public service internships, public service fellows, and LRAP support) $11M $10.8M $10.5M Library 3% Fundraising Report Scholarship $30,771,025 LRAP $12M Law Fund Gift Allocation 2010-2011 $4,408,371 The financial aid offer from SLS is often a critical component of an admitted student’s decision to enroll at the school. Munger and Nancy Munger, BA ‘45. Graduate students from all disciplines across the university live, study, and eat together. The interdisciplinary nature of Munger is designed to reflect the changing culture of Stanford Law School, where students can take advantage of a broader curriculum through courses outside the law school and through joint degree programs. Participating in the Mills Legal Clinic builds students’ skills in client management, negotiation, writing, and factual analysis. Under the close supervision of clinic faculty, they gain experience and confidence by working with real clients on real cases. For today’s students, the clinic experience is transformational in their education, while imparting a commitment to lifetime engagement in public service and pro bono activities.
