MC-DUR 1800 FF M Solvent-free, Highly Chemical-resistant Epoxy Resin Coating Properties • Two-component, solvent-free, pigmented epoxy resin coating • Suitable for self-smoothening, textured or broadcast finish • Highly chemical resistant against a range of aggressive chemicals, oils, various solvents, etc (see Chemical Resistance Chart) • High mechanical loading capacity Areas of Application • Environmental protection system / bund lining system in compliance with environmental legislation • Coating of mineral substrates against highly aggressive chemicals • REACh-assessed exposure scenarios : periodical inhalation, application Application Substrates and Substrate Preparation The base slab must be sufficiently strong to support service loads. Concrete with a compressive strength of 2 25 N/mm is usually adequate for this. In addition the surface requires an average pull-off strength of 1.5 2 2 N/mm (lowest single value 1.0 N/mm ). MC-Industrial Flooring Systems can be laid directly onto the concrete base slab providing the surface is adequately prepared with the appropriate mechanical equipment. The substrate must be clean and free of all cement laitance, dust, oil, grease, slurries and any material or contaminant that may affect adhesion. Old paints and coatings should be removed. If not, extensive tests to determine compatibility and adhesion are necessary. Cracks, blowholes and surface irregularities must be repaired prior to application. The moisture content in the substrate must not exceed 4% (Tramex meter) or 6% (CM-method). (For more details, please see our leaflet “MC-Industrial Floors - Substrate and Substrate Preparation”.) Priming Use MC-DUR 1200 VK M. If it cannot be overcoated within 24 hours, the freshly-laid primer is to be lightly strewn with oven-dried quartz sand (0.1 – 0.3 mm). All excess sand must be removed after hardening of the primer. Please refer to the product data sheet for MC-DUR 1200 VK M. Scratch coat Substrates with open surface pores which are otherwise sound should be levelled with a scratch coat prepared from MC-DUR 1200 VK M and ovendried quartz-sand (0.1 – 0.3 mm). If it cannot be overcoated within 24 hours, the freshly-laid scratch coat is to be lightly strewn with oven-dried quartz sand (0.1 – 0.3 mm). All excess sand must be removed after hardening of the scratch coat. Please refer to the product data sheet for MC-DUR 1200 VK M. Mixing MC-DUR 1800 FF M is supplied in sets of exact premeasured quantities of base and hardener components. Stir the pigmented base component separately beforehand for about one minute. Then add the hardener and mix thoroughly using a slowly-rotating mixer (300-400 rpm) with paddle until homogeneity is achieved. To complete mixing, empty thoroughly into a clean container (re-potting) and mix again. To ensure correct mixing ratios, only mix complete sets. (For more details, please see our leaflet “General Application Advice – Reactive Resins.) Application MC-DUR 1800 FF M is applied 12 to 24 hours after application of the scratch coat using a steel float, adjustable screeding tools or a rubber squeegee and de-aerated with a spiked roller. For layers thicker than 1 mm MC-DUR 1800 FF M may be filled with oven-dried quartz-sand (0.1 – 0.3 mm) in a mixing ratio of 1:0.5 p.b.w. After application the freshly laid areas are de-aerated cross-wise with a spiked roller. To obtain a higher slip-resistant finish the freshlyapplied coating is immediately strewn in excess (approx. 5 – 6 kg/m²) with oven-dried quartz-sand (e.g. 0.2 – 0.7 mm or coarser). After curing, the loose sand is removed completely and the top coat applied. The top coat is applied with a lambskin-roller/rubber squeegee. Application on sloped and vertical areas For use on sloped and vertical areas, MC-DUR 1800 FF M is added with approx. 3 – 5% by weight of MCStellmittel TX 19 (MC Thixotropic Agent TX 19). _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MC-Bauchemie GmbH & Co. General Information Coverage, application times, resistance to foot traffic and time until full resistance are determined by temperature and site properties and conditions. See also leaflet “General Application Advice – Reactive Resins“. Higher temperatures shorten while lower temperatures extend all given times and intervals. The general rule of thumb is that a temperature increase of 10˚C halves all given times, and vice versa. Concerning the batch colour consistency, please note the general information on the leaflet “General Application Advice – Reactive Resins“. Exposure to chemicals and UV-light may cause colour changes, which usually do not affect the properties and usability of the coating. Mechanically and chemically exposed surfaces are subject to wear and tear. Regular check-ups and continuous maintenance are advised.
