mothers for the establishment of good families.
In order to meet the needs of young women graduates of Chotanagpur, the Ursuline

Ranchi University deputed Sri R.K. Prasad, the then Dean of faculty of education (
Principal Government Teachers’ Training College, Ranchi ) and the Principal Govt.
Teachers’ Training College, Patna to visit this institution. They suggested that ‘as
Chotanagpur requires badly a Women’s Teachers’ Training College, we should start a
Teachers’ Training College for women. They explained that with rapid industrial
development and growing population, establishment of Teachers’ Training College was

absolute necessity to meet the educational need of the state. The Government Teachers’
Training College, Ranchi had to refuse admission to hundreds of girls students each year as
the seats were limited. At their advice, the Ranchi Ursuline Society moved for grant of
affiliation of B.Ed. course mainly for the less opportune students of villages in Jharkhand.
Ursuline Women’s Teachers’ Training College, Lohardaga was affiliated until further order
in 1981 by Undivided Bihar Government and After 19 years of struggle it obtained
permanent affiliation from Jharkhand Government, Department of Human Resource
Development Letter No. 934,dated 03.09.2010 . It is recognized by National Council for
