This contract is to install the fiber cable and make basic connections so that cable can be used to provide internet access to City Hall and ready the cables for further development. The plan is to install two 144 fiber cables throughout our conduit system. One of these 144f cables will serve government entities (including the City, Bonner County and possibly ITD). The second 144f cable will serve economic development purposes. Some additional expenses will be incurred after this project is completed before City Hall is “lit up” with internet access through the fiber optic cable. Brent Stevens is working with Bonner County to share those expenses. The City portion of this cost is expected to be less than $20,000. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: County Electric, for $115,547.00 Approve signing a contract with the low bidder, North ACTION: Pass a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the Fiber Optic Cable Installation 2016 contract. WILL THERE BE ANY FINANCIAL IMPACT? HAS THIS ITEM BEEN BUDGETED? Yes Partially ATTACHMENTS: Bid results and contract attached.
