Description
Atlas Aqua-Seal is a heavy-duty, clear, water-based
methacrylate liquid sealer and dustproofer that is designed
to protect and enhance the appearance of exterior or
interior concrete, exposed aggregate, brick, masonry and
stucco surfaces. This innovative synthetic polymer
formulation provides superior surface protection with
excellent abrasion resistance in areas of high traffic,
resistance to penetration and staining of mild chemicals
and acids, and resistance to weathering and corrosion.
Aqua-Seal is a high-solids product that produces a
medium sheen finish that will not discolor when exposed
to sunlight.

Application Procedures
Preparation
Surfaces must be clean of all oil, grease, dirt, previously
applied sealers, cures, paints, etc. Check permeability of
concrete surface with drops of water prior to application of
sealer. If water does not absorb into the surface, removal
of previously applied sealers or cures is necessary. Atlas
Citrus Cleaner may be used to remove cures, sealers,
grease and other contaminants. Waterblasting or
sandblasting may also be used to remove previously
applied coatings. There is no need to remove Atlas
Quantum-CureTM or Atlas Cure & Seal from the surface if
one of these products was used as the curing compound;
Aqua-Seal is compatible with these concrete cures.
Remove any traces of retarders that were used for
exposed aggregate finishes.

Preparation (cont.)
Clean application equipment thoroughly prior to use. Atlas
recommends using a power sprayer, manual sprayer, such
as the Atlas Tech Sprayer, brush, roller or lambs wool
applicator. Spray application works best equipped with a
fan spray tip (#8005) that produces a flow of 1/2 gallon
(1.89 liters) per minute under 40 psi (.276 MPa) of
pressure. Agitate Aqua-Seal prior to pouring out of
container. Application of sealer is not recommended when
temperature is below 400 F (40 C) or when relative
humidity is above 90%.
Surface should be completely dry prior to applying
Aqua-Seal. Aqua-Seal may be used as a cure coat for new
concrete in a thin application of 300-400 sq.ft. per gallon.
Application
If spray-applying, keep spray tip approximately 2 feet
from the concrete surface and apply in a thin, uniform and
continuous manner according to the coverage rate chart
on the front side of this Product Data Sheet. Rolling the
sealer also works very well, but be sure to avoid puddles
on horizontal surfaces and run-downs on vertical surfaces.
For vertical applications, apply from the top and work
down. Two coats are recommended for added protection.
The second coat may be applied after first coat has
completely dried (typically 2 - 4 hours). Apply second coat
at approximately 500 ft2 per gallon (12.3 M2 / liter).
Try to avoid spraying in windy conditions, but if necessary,
the use of a wind screen in front of the work area will aid
in obtaining a uniform application. Avoid over-application
and puddling of Aqua-Seal. Over-application may result in
a soft film. Wait approximately 4 hours after
application before allowing light traffic on treated surface,
8 - 12 hours for heavy traffic.
Cleaning
Prior to drying, Aqua-Seal may be cleaned from
equipment using soap and warm water. Once cure has
dried, it may be removed with a citrus-based stripper such
as Atlas Citrus Cleaner, or with Xylene or Toluene.
Storage
Store Aqua-Seal in tightly sealed original factory
containers in a cool and dry area. Protect from freezing.
Store above 400 F (40 C).
Limitations
• Must be agitated prior to use.
• Do not dilute or alter in any way.
• Do not apply when temperature is expected to fall below
400 F (40 C) within 6 hours of application.
• Keep material from freezing. Store above 400 F (40 C).
• Prior to application on colored concrete surfaces, always
perform a small test or mock-up.
• May not provide a bondable surface for cement-based
materials.
• Rubber wheeled vehicles may leave black marks.
• Not recommended for use in fountains or pools or on
concrete subject to hydrostatic pressure.
Caution
Always wear protective goggles and gloves when
using this product. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Do
not take internally. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting.
Contact a physician immediately. If eye contact occurs,
flush eyes with fresh water for 15 minutes and contact
a physician. Wash all exposed skin with soap and water
after use. Keep out of the reach of children.
