OUR MESSAGE TO YOU
Welcome to our first-ever Annual Report! While the Foundation was formed in the 1990s, we think it is time to more formally raise
the profile of this organization, add a more pronounced “Thank You” for your long-standing generosity, and begin to tell you more
about where we’re going.
In our years of working with the Catholic Education Foundation, one thing is for sure. Our broader central Kentucky community
truly believes in the Catholic education experience and values its impact. And that is why so many of you, both families and
businesses, have given so selflessly to the cause of helping families who cannot afford the full cost of Catholic schools for their kids.
Yes, our Catholic schools – 37 elementary and nine secondary with combined enrollments of nearly 20,000 students – are leading
the way in demonstrated value to our community like no other.
Why are Catholic schools so important? The answer is simple – They are the best way to connect Faith, Family and Learning the
world over. No other educational experience better links these three precious life-long gifts. None.
So if this experience is so valuable on such a broad scale, shouldn’t we all work together to enhance its vitality and extend its reach
to more students? THE ANSWER IS YES!
This past year in central Kentucky Catholic schools was quite historic on several fronts, but none more important than the November 2014 joint announcement of a new Catholic school plan by the Archdiocese of Louisville and the Catholic Education Foundation. Together, we created a new model of tuition assistance for Catholic elementary schools that surprised even us.This fall, in
concert with a new funding partnership – The Foundation, the Archdiocese, the schools and parishes, School Choice Scholarships
and Community Catholic Center – tuition assistance awards totaled a staggering $5 million and reached nearly 2,400 students in
our elementary schools.This astonishing result was 60% higher in student outreach than ever before! WOW!
Here’s even better news about our future. In March, the Foundation and the Archdiocese jointly announced a goal to add 1,000
elementary students within five years to the more than 13,000 we serve today. Of course, to reach this goal will take more than our
record sum this year. But the momentum we are all building for Catholic education leaves no doubt about the outcome. So spread
the word – Catholic school enrollment in central Kentucky is on the rise!
Any of the success that the Foundation has achieved during this historic year was solely attributable to God’s Divine Providence
and our incredible donors, many of whom are featured in this report. While our work is never done, we march on to achieve results
no one thought possible and extend our reach to families who only dream of this great gift for their children. Let’s all stand together for those who yearn for a Catholic education for their children and proclaim to them, “THE ANSWER IS YES!”

OUR MISSION IS A
LIFE-CHANGING CAUSE
On November 6, Archbishop Kurtz announced the
new Catholic School Plan in partnership with the Foundation. This fall, our combined elementary tuition
assistance funding will double to over $3 million
annually.
On January 12, the Foundation launched a new
$200,000 annual investment in tuition assistance
in our four southwest Louisville elementary schools
aimed at adding at least 100 more students among
those schools.
On March 18, the Foundation hosted its 25th
anniversary Salute to Catholic School Alumni dinner
to a sell-out crowd of over 1,800 guests.The event
raised an all-time record $665,000 for the Foundation.
In addition, the Archdiocese and the Foundation jointly
announced a new goal to add 1,000 students to
Catholic elementary schools over the next five years!
On April 15, we launched our Annual Fund appeal
across the Archdiocese to raise more than $500,000 in
support of our Catholic school families – more than
double last year’s results.
And there’s more…. Our community-wide message of
growth, outreach and inclusion in our Catholic schools
is spreading and we are seeing record numbers of
families applying for tuition assistance for next fall.
We can’t wait to answer the call!
