1. JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the resource, quality and performance of a team of multi-disciplined craftspersons from
Technical Services and/or Contractors, to undertake and successfully deliver, MEICA maintenance
activities for key operational customers within the business.

3. CORE DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To manage the field team in accordance with HR procedures, performance management
procedures, including Health and Safety, quality, productivity and Service Level Agreements.

To liaise regularly with nominated Asset Management teams and other field customer
representatives in order to manage work delivery quality and performance outcomes.

To liaise and cooperate with the Maintenance Project Manager and the Maintenance Control
and Planning Managers on resource requirements.

To provide the required availability of competent field team resource from Technical Services
and Contractors to meet the maintenance demand of the Business.

To manage the availability of internal resource to forecast requirements, as advised by the
Maintenance Control and Planning Managers, including leave cover, rota days and sickness
absence management etc.

To direct the resource to ensure that all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner
as demanded by the Business.

To provide trained resources to the Maintenance Project Manager to undertake complex
maintenance tasks, when requested.

Ensure the field teams adhere to work schedules, business policies and agreed procedures
and to complete work to the required quality as required for the business.

To support the team with access to all the correct tools, materials and equipment required to
discharge their responsibilities.

To use the company’s Performance Management processes to maintain and enhance the
performance of the individuals and the team.

To support, implement and respond to Performance and Service Level Agreement Reports.

To be proactive in promoting and maintaining a good health and safety culture within the
work place at all times.

Ensuring that Health & Safety policies and standards are adhered at all times and that the
appropriate Health & Safety equipment is available.

Have a good understanding of health and safety documentation i.e. risk assessments,
method statements, safe systems of work and COSHH awareness and able to keep
documentation up-to-date.

Cooperate with the Field Asset Risk Adviser, field teams, TAP coaches and Health and
Safety representatives in order to undertake work activities in the safest possible way and to
support the development of Standard Working Practices, Method Statements and Safe
Systems of Work.

To cooperate with the H&S department and functions on health and safety issues and to
perform comprehensive H&S investigations.

Responsible for ensuring appropriate training and development of team members is planned
and maintained and properly recorded.

Able to effectively manage individual workgroup budget and expenditure in order that the
outturn meets the departmental allocated budget and targets.

To assist departmental management in making efficiency savings within operational
activities.

To assist management in departmental business planning objectives and outcomes.

To support the selection and recruitment of new, additional or replacement resources as
required, including the engagement of contractors.

To actively engage in the management and development of Apprentices.

To adhere to business strategies and objectives.

To undertake any necessary training and continuous professional development.

Able to adapt to management change by engaging in new working practices.

Ensure that all client contact enhances and promotes the reputation of Technical Services
and South West Water.

Perform the function of Duty Manager on a stand by rota basis for out of hours.
