Early move-ins may not be permitted. Please bring your TitanCard as proof of residency. MOVING SUPPLIES There will only be a limited number of moving bins available for check-out for one hour with a photo ID (other than your TitanCard) from the following locations: Lot J, Maintenance Shop, Custodial Warehouse (apartment residents only). Residents are encouraged to bring hand trucks and carts to assist with unloading. Volunteers (wearing orange t-shirts) will also be available to provide assistance with unloading cars and carrying your belongings to your assigned room. LATE ARRIVALS If you plan to arrive later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2015, please notify the Housing Office by calling (657) 278-2168 so that we can make arrangements and to ensure that your license agreement is not cancelled. PARKING INFORMATION There will be more than 1,900 residents and their families parking on campus during Opening Day. We encourage you to enter at Folino Drive after exiting the 57 Freeway at the Nutwood Avenue exit. Please see the enclosed campus map for details. Please follow the signs to the unloading parking lots outlined below. In addition, please adhere to all parking rules and regulations. Parking and Transportation staff will be available to assist you with any questions or concerns. In order to help facilitate a smooth unloading process, please follow the parking instructions described below. 1. Please adhere to the check in times listed below: Residence Halls (Last Names A-G) @ 9 a.m. Residence Halls (Last Names H-O) @ 10 a.m. Residence Halls (Last Names P-Z) @ 11 a.m. Single and Double Apartments @ 1 p.m. 2. One hour unloading zones will be available in Lot E Rows 19-22, Lot J (directly behind the Pine Residence Hall) as well as the Residence Hall Lot (directly behind the Elm, Fig, and Holly Residence Halls) and the Residence Hall Parking Structure (adjacent to the Double Apartments). Parking and Transportation staff will direct you to the appropriate unloading zone based on your designated check-in time. Once you have unloaded your possessions, please move your vehicle to the Eastside Parking Structure. Please note, parking permits will not be required in Student Parking Lots on Opening Day, Thursday, August 18, 2016. A Residence Hall Parking Permit is required beginning Friday, August 19, 2016. Residence Hall Parking Permits are valid in the Residence Hall Lot, Residence Hall Structure, and Lots A & G. From 6 p.m. – 7 a.m., Residence Hall Parking Permits are valid in all student parking areas. For additional information, please visit: www.parking.fullerton.edu/parking/HRL.php. 3. If you are planning to bring a vehicle to campus, we strongly encourage you to purchase your Residence Hall parking permit in advance of Opening Day. Parking permits are available via the “Parking” icon in your Student Portal. Be sure to have your vehicle information available, as you will be prompted to print out a temporary permit that you may use while waiting for your semester hangtag to arrive in the mail. If you are not planning to bring a car to campus, be sure to check out the Enterprise CarShare program which provides Cal State Fullerton students the opportunity to “rent” a vehicle on an hourly basis. Be sure to visit the Parking and Transportation table in the Housing Piazza on Opening Day for more information. ROOM AND MEAL PLAN ACCESS VIA TITANCARD Please remember to bring your TitanCard with you on Opening Day as it will serve as your room and meal plan access card when entering your residence as well as the Gastronome. Please make sure your TitanCard is not worn out or damaged prior to move in as the encoding system will not work on damaged cards and you will have to obtain a new one from the mobile TitanCard Office located in Juniper 150. Replacement cards cost $10. Please follow these instructions when using your TitanCard to gain access to your assigned bedspace: Step 1: Swipe your TitanCard at the door of the room/location to which you have been assigned. If the light is: Red: Wait 1 - 2 minutes, proceed to step 2. Yellow/Amber: Input your PIN (the last 4 digits of your CWID) to unlock the door. Step 2: Swipe your TitanCard a second time. If the light is: Red: Please report the issue to the staff at the Housing Office. Yellow/Amber: Input your PIN (the last 4 digits of your CWID) to unlock the door. The light may turn Green and unlock before you enter your PIN. This should stop happening within 24 hours. If this persists, please report it to the staff at the Housing Office. On Opening Day, you will be issued a mail key for your designated mailbox. In addition, apartment residents will be issued bedroom keys which will provide access to their specific bedrooms within each apartment suite. OPENING DAY DINING All meal plans will be active beginning on Opening Day, so residents may use their Meal Plans, Guest Meals, and Declining Balance at the Gastronome and Community Market. On Opening Day, we welcome our residents and up to two (2) of their guests to enjoy a healthy meal in our dining facility, the Gastronome, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Please see the tables outside the entrance to the Gastronome for more information. In addition, the Community Market will be open beginning at 8 a.m. for early arrivals wanting a cup of coffee, soda, bottled water, pastries or other snacks throughout the day. Students are assigned a specific dinner time for Opening Day only. See below for details: Holly, Juniper and Pine @ 6 p.m. Elm and Fig @ 7 p.m. Single and Double Apartments @ 8 p.m. OPENING DAY ACTIVITIES Vendor Fair On Opening Day, the Housing Piazza will be set up to host a resource fair from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. which will include representatives from the following campus departments and external vendors: Aramark (Dining Services) Associated Students, CSUF, Inc. Athletics Bed, Bath and Beyond* Parking and Transportation Services (Enterprise CarShare and OCTA) Student Technology Services Student Wellness Center TitanCard/US Bank Titan Shops University Advancement University Police (bicycle registration) *Bed, Bath and Beyond will also have a pop-up store located on the outdoor basketball courts. Titan Shops | Book Pick-up Titan Shops will host a free book pickup location in G-160 for residents who order their books online at TitanShops.com. Orders placed prior to 8/18/16 will be available for pickup from G-160 beginning on Opening Day and continuing until Friday, August 26 during the following hours: Thursday, August 18 – Friday, August 19: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, August 20 – Sunday, August 21: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday, August 22 – Tuesday, August 23: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 – Friday, August 26: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Beginning Sunday, August 28, housing delivery orders may be picked up at the Housing Office Mailroom. Our Campus Market (OCM): Linen Pickup If you pre‐ordered linen from OCM, please visit the Housing Office on Opening Day to pick up your linen package. Mailroom The Mailroom will be CLOSED on Opening Day. Normal operating hours will resume on Friday, August 19: Sunday ‐ Thursday: 2 – 10 p.m. Friday: 2 – 8 p.m. Saturday: CLOSED Academic Resource Center The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is the Housing computer lab open only to residents. The ARC is located near the Cypress Basketball and Volleyball courts. The ARC will be CLOSED on Opening Day. Normal operating hours will resume on Sunday, August 21: Sunday: 5 – 10 p.m. Monday‐ Thursday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Parents Welcome Sessions: 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Cypress Multipurpose Room (MPR) All parents and family members are encouraged to attend their designated Parents Welcome session in order to learn more about the resources available through the housing, residence life, and dining programs at Cal State Fullerton as well as to interact with campus leaders from the Dean of Students Office, the University Police and the Titan Parents Association. Parents Welcome sessions are scheduled as follows: Residence Halls @ 1:30 p.m. Residence Halls and Apartments @ 3 p.m. Town Hall and Floor Meetings The Housing and Residence Life staff will host a mandatory Town Hall in the Titan Gym as well as individual Floor Meetings for all residents beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Opening Day. At these meetings, Housing and Residence Life community standards will be communicated, programs and services will be reviewed, involvement opportunities will be presented, and Housing Orientation Week activities will highlighted. There will also be opportunities to get to know fellow residents! WHAT TO BRING We encourage residents to only bring what they need as there are no extra storage areas in the Residence Halls and storage space in the Single and Double Apartments is limited. ROOM DIMENSIONS Residence Hall Bedroom Size Residents living in the Residence Halls share a bedroom that is 12 feet wide by 16 feet long with 10 foot ceilings. The closets are 4 feet 6 inches wide by 24 inches deep with one shelf. There is 5 feet between the two beds in their standard configuration. Each student has his/her own cable TV jack, telephone jack, Ethernet port, 4x120v receptacles, a twin bed that is 36 to 38 inches wide by 84 inches long, 4-drawer dresser, a desk with hutch, and a task chair. Posters, pictures, etc., may be affixed to the walls using putty, or painter’s tape. Small bulletin boards, white boards, etc., may be hung using tacks or other adhesives that do not cause permanent damage. Shelves may not be attached to the walls. Single Apartment Bedroom Size Residents living in the Single Apartments have a private bedroom that is 8 feet wide by 12 feet long with 9 foot ceilings. Each student has his/her own cable TV jack, telephone jack, Ethernet port, 2x110v receptacles, and a twin bed that is 36 to 38 inches wide by 84 inches long, 4-drawer dresser, a desk and a task chair. Double Apartment Bedroom Size Residents living in the Double Apartments share a bedroom that is 10 feet wide by 16 feet long with 8 foot ceilings. Each student has his/her own cable TV jack, telephone jack, Ethernet port, 4x110v receptacles, and a twin bed that is 36 to 38 inches wide by 84 inches long, 4-drawer dresser, a desk with hutch and a task chair. The two students in the bedroom share a closet that is 10 feet wide. Additional storage is available in the hallway. LAUNDRY FACILITIES There are two laundry facilities available in the Cypress and Juniper buildings. Residents use the Waverider payment system which accepts debit/credit cards and prepaid debit cards (Visa and MasterCard) by following the enclosed instructions. Washer cycles cost $1.50, Dryer cycles cost $1. Load clothes in a washer (washers have blue dots or green dots) Swipe a debit or credit card (mag stripe facing the reader) Select preferred wash cycle Press Start Once the wash cycle ends, transfer clothes to a dryer. (Important-select a corresponding dryer with a blue dot or green dot) Swipe a debit or credit card (mag stripe facing the reader) Press Start WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems will charge your account a PENDING TRANSACTION of $8. Allow 24-72 hours for the total cost of your wash/dry cycle(s) to post to your account. Note: You must dry clothes within 2 hours of the end of the wash cycle for your account to only have one PENDING TRANSACTION. MICROFRIDGE For those students who would like to rent or purchase a MicroFridge, Collegiate Concepts, Inc., please see the enclosed flier for more information. CABLE TELEVISION All Residence Hall rooms and Single/Double Apartments are “cable ready”. Students may contact Time Warner Cable directly to make arrangements for service installation. Students must be present during cable installation. Appointments should be scheduled Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. beginning Friday, August 19. The Time Warner Cable Customer Care Number is 1-888-TWCABLE (1-888-892-2253). Time Warner Cable is a full service cable provider of television, internet, and phone services. MAIL When addressing mail to residents, please use the legend below to find the appropriate building address. All mail and packages will be delivered to the Housing Office and distributed to each resident’s assigned mailbox. Each residence hall room or apartment has one designated mailbox, so residents will be sharing a mailbox with their roommates/apartment-mates. Residence Hall mailboxes are located in the Housing Mailroom adjacent to the Housing Office. Double Apartment mailboxes are located on the first floor of Cypress. Single Apartment mailboxes are located on the west side of the Academic Resource Center.
