Sven Christiansen is a privately owned British furniture
manufacturing company, established in 1974. Our factory
is in Kingswinford, West Midlands and we have showrooms
there and in Great Portland Street, London. In addition, our
furniture is displayed in the showrooms of our distributors
throughout the UK.
Contents
We operate a Quality Management System that meets the
requirements of BS EN ISO 9001, certificated by BSI. We
build furniture to last: all our furniture is guaranteed for five
years (three years for moving parts), but we have many
sites installed more than fifteen years ago which are still
providing faultless service.
Our investment in sophisticated
computerised machinery enables us to
manufacture very efficiently and keep our
prices low. We also employ highly skilled
craftsmen to carry out the operations
that are beyond the abilities of even the
best machines. This enables us to offer a
comprehensive range of solutions to suit
all applications and environments.
We undertake ongoing review of our products, raw
materials and processes with the objective of continual
improvement in our environmental performance. To

by BSI. We hold FSC® Chain of Custody for an ever-increasing
proportion of our timber raw materials (please contact us for

Important notes about veneers
and hardwood timbers
We use solid hardwoods and wood veneers whose
varying grain and figure emphasise the natural beauty
and individuality of the wood. No two pieces of timber
are identical, and there will be natural variations in hue,
grain and figure, and both knots and colouring arising
from natural minerals in the wood. Bamboo also exhibits
variations in colour and pattern. None of these variations
or features are faults: they are simply proof of the natural
origin of the product. Please note that most timbers and
veneers either lighten or darken on exposure to light.
Should you add additional items at a later date, there may
be an initial colour mismatch that should even out over a
period of time.

G-Series comprises four working chairs
with accompanying visitors/meeting chairs.
All models have been carefully designed to combine
comfort and style with exceptional durability. There
is a wide choice of mechanisms, arm and base
options to enable you to tailor each chair to your
particular needs and preferences.
All working chair mechanisms and columns have
been tested to BS 5459-2:2000, for use by persons
weighing up to 150kg for 24 hours per day.
G-Series visitors/meeting chairs are offered with

Executive and Conference chairs
HBB combines distinctive contemporary design
with exceptional comfort. The range comprises
working chairs with synchro mechanisms and
conference chairs on both cantilever skid bases
and four star swivel bases. All variants have arms
and are offered with either high or medium backs.

Ele is modern reinterpretation of a classic seating
design, improved and enhanced to suit the modern
office and boardroom. The range comprises

Conference Chairs
Meeting and conference chairs of exceptional
quality and comfort.
F1 and F2 models have solid hardwood
frames in a wide range of timbers and finishes.
F3 and F4 models have steel tube frames.
All models are available with or without arms,
and steel parts are available painted zinc or black,
or in polished chrome.
Four-legged models may be specified with our
unique Freefloat™ mechanism. Freefloat™ provides
a smooth range of movement from a forwards
tilt of -3° to a rear tilt of +10°. The automatically
progressive resistance requires no user adjustment
and because no controls are required the Freefloat™
mechanism does not alter the visual appearance of
the chair. Freefloat™ is optional on Fulcrum F1, F2
and F4 chairs and on G-Series G5 and G7.
Fulcrum F1 and F2 armchairs have been tested
to BS4875-1 2007 to level 5 (severe contract use).

Reception and Break-out
The versatile HB1 series comprises an individual chair
and two seat sofa on polished chrome tubular legs.
The HB1 chair is also offered on a spyder base and
a polished aluminium base.
Skoop is cute, curvy and comfortable – and available
on a skid base or 4 star aluminium base.
S-Sofa is a flowing, curvilinear design that can
look sleekly conservative or distinctively modern
dependant on the upholstery specified.
Lux is a very high quality interpretation of the
traditional tub chair, in both single seat and two
seat variants.
Monday is a crisp, visually light chair and sofa –
with matching glass top coffee table – ideally suited
to breakout areas or “smart casual” receptions.

feature of hardwood feet in a choice of ten finishes
to match all our furniture. Table tops in timber or glass.
Friday features a distinctive back shell available
in a range of timber veneers or in matching or
contrasting fabric.
Tuesday is a substantial reception chair ‘floating’
on its tubular chrome base.
Kadia® is a revival of a classic design, but with
a modernised structure that provides greatly
enhanced comfort.
Clarity offers crisply-styled, low backed soft seating
that is elegant and unobtrusive.

Reception Seating
X-Range offers two ranges of reception seating,
XRM and XRT.
XRM comprises rectangular, modular units,
with distinctive polished feet, that can be used
individually or combined to form a wide variety
of configurations. Table tops are available in MFC,
veneer, clear glass and black mirror glass.
XRT comprises simple, comfortable tub chairs
and a two seat sofa.

Finishes
MFC (melamine) and our hand-selected, crown cut
veneers are both very durable finishes. Veneers are
a more costly raw material than MFC and require a
lengthy and skilled series of preparation and finishing
processes – and therefore carry a price premium.
