College Credit Plus (CCP) Program
Overview
Background, Purpose, and Eligibility:
The College Credit Plus Program* (CCP) has
been established to enhance students’
college and career readiness and postsecondary success by enabling college-ready,
7-12 grade students who qualify for college
admission to take college-level courses for
which they earn both high school and
transcripted college credit upon successful
completion of coursework. The University of
Cincinnati Blue Ash College (UCBA) is
participating in the “Courses Offered
on-Campus” CCP option which is very similar
to the former PSEOP offered from 1989 to
June of 2015.
*Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3365 College Credit Plus
Program starting: 2015-2016 school year
Application Process:
The application process includes taking the
math and English placement/qualifying
tests. These tests are given on the UC Blue
Ash campus during scheduled, proctored
times. Students must test into college level
math and English as remedial classes are not
allowed. Other components include an
online application, official transcript/grades,
and printed forms to be completed and
returned: Basic Data and Application
Signature and Release Page.
Classes and Costs:
UC Blue Ash College classes are offered as
the CCP “on-campus option.” Classes are
offered day, evenings, Saturdays, and online
at no cost** to the students. Students may
be on a full or part-time basis and complete
nonsectarian, nonremedial courses.
Students must maintain a 2.0 term and
cumulative GPA at UCBA per UC college
guidelines. Failure to do so will result in their
dismissal from the program.
**No-Cost: Applies to students who register for UCBA
classes before the first week of school and receive a
letter grade of A, B, C, or D. See A-Z Guide for detailed
information under COSTS.
Nonpublic, nonchartered nonpublic, and
home schooled students may participate by
following additional procedures. Funding

as well as UCBA, CCP Admissions office. Your
student will be placed in Option A until this
letter is received for the limited number of
credit hours.
Timeline:
By April 1: Notify school ‘s principal and
counselor of the “intent to participate” and
student/parents sign a school form
By April 15: FINAL DAY for UC Blue Ash
College’s CCP application processing for
both fall and spring semesters
By May 1: Qualifying/placement testing
complete
During May: UCBA Mandatory CCP
Orientation
Note to nonpublic, nonchartered nonpublic,
and home schooled students: Check with
the Ohio Department of Education for dates
and additional rules.
CCP Goal: To give all Ohio students choices
and opportunities for their education.
CCP – Benefits and Risks
Benefits:
• Allows students to earn simultaneous high
school and transcripted college credits –
based on a cumulative grade, not just one
test.
• Accelerates a student’s college career and
provides quality, affordable education
close to home.
• Provides students with a wider range of
class options and allows them to
complete general education college
requirements. These are transferable
according to Transfer Assurance Guide
(TAG) and Ohio Transfer Module (OTM)
guidelines.
• Lowers the overall cost of post-secondary
education.
• Shortens the time to complete a
college degree and allows increased
flexibility in student scheduling.
• Introduces the rigor and expectations of
college work—helps students achieve
college readiness.
• Eliminates repetitive, overlapping
coursework between high school and
college.
Risks:
• Although TAG/OTM courses are
guaranteed transfer to Ohio Public
Institutions of Higher Education with a
grade of D or better, how they transfer
may differ depending on the major.
Students should check with institutions of
interest regarding transfer prior to CCP
enrollment.
• College transfer credits earned through
CCP are generally accepted by most major
institutions. However, credits are not
always guaranteed for transfer toward
private or out-of-state institutions.
Students should check with institutions of
interest regarding transfer prior to CCP
enrollment.
• Grades received through CCP are reflected
twice—on high school and college
transcripts. On both transcripts, grades will
affect respective GPAs. Low grades may
also negatively impact potential college
admissions and financial aid opportunities.
• Students taking CCP courses on campus
are responsible for transportation.
• To avoid fees: Students will need to know
the University of Cincinnati policies
including fees for late registration,
dropping and withdrawing from classes.
Students will be given UCBA Student
Handbooks during the mandatory UCBA
CCP Orientation. In addition, the A-Z guide
also contains most of the needed
information for a successful college
experience at UC Blue Ash College.

The College Credit Plus Program (CCP) is offered at UC Blue Ash College (UCBA) as the on-campus option. Students will be a part of the regular
student body. The same UCBA rules, regulations, and requirements apply to the CCP high school students with additional CCP rules as set forth
by the Ohio Revised Code and the Board of Regents. CCP students and their parents will have their high school counselors as well UCBA CCP
Program Director, Pamela Bauer, as a support system and information resource; however, students need to be aware that they must be able to
function as college students when attending on-campus classes.
Readiness Evaluation: Time management and motivation are key components to success in college as well as strong communication skills and
the maturity to participate with older students (see skills for success below). Please use these as a thoughtful evaluation of the readiness and
ability of the student to be successful in taking college classes on a college campus.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Studying
2 for 1 Rule: For every 1 credit hour of class, students need to plan for at least 2 hours of studying per week.
Example: For a 3 credit hour class, you will have 6 hours of study (3 cr. hr. x 2 study hours= 6 hours of study).
This means you need to schedule 9 hours in your planner for every 3 hour class:
(6 study hrs + 3 class hrs = 9 hours) PLUS transportation to and from the college
Difficult classes will require more study time. The weeks when students have tests, papers, and projects will
require more hours allotted toward preparing and studying for the class.
Note: Most of our classes are 3 credit hours, but not always. Be aware of the credit hours levels.

MOTIVATION
Communication
Awareness & Maturity
Please rate the student on the
following using a 1-5 scale
(5=above average) and write
“N” if you do not know, have
not observed, or are not sure.
This will not affect acceptance but
serve as thoughtful insights for
suitability for the program.
Attendance is paramount.
• Plan on attending. Do not schedule your appointments and activities during class times.
• Note that the college calendar is DIFFERENT from the high school calendar.
Spring Break is RARELY the same as your high school spring break.
• Be sure to read the professor’s syllabus to know how attendance is graded.
• If absence is unavoidable, communicate by email with your professor to find out your options.
Let your counselor and Pam Bauer know what is going on to be able to help.
Assignments must be turned in on time.
Use a monthly planner to coordinate when major tests, papers, and projects are due.
Use a binder for this and other class papers.
Communication is key.
Since CCP high school students are considered college students, the professors and staff are trained to deal
with only the students not the parents due to FERPA rules. Therefore, students need to be comfortable with
emailing the professors (each student will have an official UC email to use), stopping by during office hours
to discuss problems, and communicating questions or concerns with the high school counselors, UCBA
representative Pam Bauer, and parents.
Each class is different and each professor is different.
Students need to be sensitive to how classes are conducted. For example, students will need to understand
that some professors encourage discussion and give points for participation, while other professors prefer
involved questions to be asked after class or via email. In addition, students need to be aware of positive and
negative influences from classmates and have the maturity to manage those influences. These classes are for
students who are serious about their education and studies.

TO BE SIGNED BY STUDENT
I have read the UCBA CCP Overview and understand the benefits and risks associated with the CCP program at UC Blue Ash College. I have read
the UCBA CCP information and understand the grounds for dismissal. I understand that as a CCP participant, I am enrolled at UCBA as a
non-matriculated high school student and that the grades I earn will become part of a permanent academic record at both my high school and
the University of Cincinnati. I realize I must maintain a 2.0 GPA in my high school and college classes. I have discussed with my guidance
counselor possible options to resume my high school education should I not be able to continue the CCP at UCBA. I have reviewed and
completed the evaluation and insights on the front of this document. As a condition of participating in CCP, I authorize UC Blue Ash College to
provide information about my academic progress and performance to my parents/ guardians, college/high school administrators, and the Ohio
Department of Education and Board of Regents.

TO BE SIGNED BY PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN
I understand the benefits and risks associated with allowing my child to participate in the CCP Program at UC Blue Ash College. In particular, I
understand that should my child enroll in CCP Option A, I must pay for all of the costs associated with taking a course(s) at UCBA. If my child is
enrolled in a non-public school, there are additional steps that the state requires for funding. I I also understand that should my child enroll in
CCP Option B and subsequently withdraw from or fail a course(s), I must reimburse my child’s school district for all of the costs associated with
the course(s). Late registration fees are the responsibility of the family. By signing this document, I stipulate my child has both the academic and
emotional maturity necessary to complete college course work successfully.

I have fully advised this student and his/her parent(s) of all the benefits and risks of the CCP program. It is my opinion that this student has both
the academic and emotional maturity necessary to complete college course work successfully. I have reviewed and completed the evaluation
and insights on the front of this document. I understand that it is the student’s responsibility to work with me to ensure all of his/her graduation requirements are met. Furthermore, I realize the student must maintain a 2.00 GPA or above in the high school and at the college to
continue attending. I let the student know that previously a 3.00 GPA was the recommendation.
