A step-by-step Guide to Sliding Door Track Selection
The 2 most important considerations for correct door track selection is the weight of your door and the
width of your door. By ensuring the track you choose is suitable for the weight and width of your door you will
have a starting point to selecting the best track for your needs.
Once you have ascertained your door weight and size there are several other factors and features you should consider in
order to decide which door track is most suited to your particular context of use. These include:

LIMITED SPACE
AESTHETICS
- Will your track be wall mounted or top mounted?
Be aware of fixing points and any obstructions before committing to a fixing type.
- Is your doorway a high traffic area subject to constant use?
Upgrading to a heavier system can greatly increase the life of your door track.
- Looking to keep the sliding noise to a minimum - kids bedroom, ensuite?
Enclosed aluminium tracks are far less noisy than open steel tracks.
- Is humidity or dust a concern?
Enclosed tracks offer a much greater resistance to the build up of dirt and dust.
- Will you have limited access to install your door?
Top mount and enclosed tracks are easier to install in limited space areas.
- Do you simply want a track that looks good?
Enclosed tracks are much more appealing and may be painted to suit decor, or you may
prefer a pelmeted wall fix track.
You may benefit in the long run if you take the time to assess these factors and choose your door track with your specific
requirements in mind.

H.M. Cowdroy Pty Ltd is a history making
company that was first formed in 1890 as an
advertising agency. Since that time H.M. Cowdroy
has created history a number of times by
producing many FIRSTS in several fields of
endeavour. These include, the first illustrated
advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald and
the WORLD'S FIRST sliding glass aluminium
track, the latter being an invention that changed
the direction of the company and put it on the fast
track to leadership in the Australian Hardware
Industry. Both of these firsts continue to play an
extremely large part in today's life.
H.M. Cowdroy's other major inventions include the
highly successful ball bearing sliding glass track, a
sashless sliding window and a sliding door track
system featuring ball bearings on a top race
section, which was patented and sold under
manufacturing licence around the world.
H.M. Cowdroy also produced the Starline
Showcase. This innovative, ahead-of-it's-time
aluminium and glass design was a major
breakthrough and was an instant success in the
shopfitting market. As a direct result of the success
of the Starline Showcase, Cowdroys decided to
create a special division, within the company, to
manufacture and supply products specifically to
service the shopfitting industry. This division
remains a force in the market today.
In 1984, after outgrowing the original 2 premises in
Sydney City and Balgowlah, H.M. Cowdroy Pty.
Ltd. purchased new premises on 1.4 hectares at
Smithfield to cater for both business and
technological expansion. Throughout the most
recent years H.M. Cowdroy have undergone
many changes to ensure that market demands
and consumer requirements are being adequately
serviced.
H.M. Cowdroy Pty. Ltd. has always placed its
emphasis on the design and development of new
products according to market demands.
Independent design, research and development
has, and always will be, an ongoing issue at
Cowdroy’s to ensure the continuation of new and
exciting products. H.M. Cowdroy Pty. Ltd. has
maintained the highest standard in the design and
manufacture of its products throughout the past
century and will continue to maintain that
excellence in the future.

Conditions of Sale and Trade Policy.
Cowdroy warrants its products to be free from
defects in material and workmanship for a
period of seven (7) years from date of purchase.
Terms of Payments are strictly thirty (30) days
nett from date of statement.
This warranty is limited to Cowdroy’s option to
repair, or the replacement, of any products
proven to be faulty in manufacture or materials,
with the same or equivalent product, free of
charge. Labour charges, transportation and other
costs associated with the replacement or reinstallation of the parts or product are excluded
from this warranty and will not be paid for by
Cowdroy’s.
H.M. Cowdroy Pty Ltd. assumes no liability
under the warranty for the following:*Misuse, abuse, accidental or intentional damage
*Improper adjustment or operation by the installer
or end user
*Improper maintenance or installation
*Inaccurate or incorrect site or operational specifications
*Unauthorised repair or modification
*Used contrary to Cowdroy recommendations
*Use of replacement parts other than Cowdroy
authorised parts
*Corrosion related damages when used in a
corrosive environment or corrosion caused by
cleaning related agents
*Whilst some of our product finishes are warranted
against tarnish, they shall not be covered for
deterioration caused by damage to the protective
layer
To the extent permitted by law, this warranty is the
exclusive warranty granted by H.M. Cowdroy Pty
Ltd. and is in lieu of all other expressed or implied
warranties and guaranties. There are no implied
warranties as to the merchantability, quality or
fitness for purpose. In all other respects the
Standard Terms and Conditions of Cowdroy
products apply.

A number of our products have registered patents
and any infringement in Australia or Overseas
could result in legal action.

Delivery Charges
(a)Cowdroy operates a minimum order value
(refer price lists) and orders equal to or above
this value are delivered free into store (FIS) in
metropolitan areas of Sydney, Brisbane,
Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. Orders below
this value will carry a surcharge for processing,
delivery and invoicing.
(b)Deliveries outside the metropolitan areas are
delivered carrying an additional freight and
packaging cost to listed prices.
(c)Special packaging cases or crates, if required,
will carry an additional freight and packaging
cost to listed prices.
Return claims must be in writing within seven (7)
days of receipt of delivery of goods. All returns
must have prior authorisation and must be in
good order and working condition.
Freight costs must be borne by the customer
and Tax Invoice or Delivery Docket numbers must
be quoted at all times.
Returns of special or cut to size orders will not
be accepted.
Extruded sections cut to size will be charged at a
per half length rate, which includes a cutting
charge.
All prices shown in price lists are subject to
change or alteration without notice.
Title of Property.
H.M. Cowdroy Pty Ltd. retains the legal title of all
goods invoiced until the actual invoice is paid in
full plus any outstanding extraneous charges
pertaining to that invoice.

JAMB CHANNEL Ideal For Wardrobe Openings
This aluminium jamb channel has been developed to compliment the popular “Robemaker”
wardrobe door system but is also suitable for use with most bi-passing door track systems.
The channel fits perfectly over the existing “Robemaker” extrusions and has matching
aesthetics - a ribbed face on one side and a smooth plain face on the other.
It is available as a packaged set of 2 jambs @ 2470mm long and is available pre-finished
in both White Birch and Gloss White.
Packs come with fixing screws, screw caps and installation instructions.

Many rollers are adjustable. This adjustment may be actuated by
either a screw or a nut. Generally, bottom sliding systems are screw
adjustable and top sliding systems are nut adjustable. (Some roller
assemblies are spring loaded and may be removed easily). The
following steps will help in the removal and replacement of rollers.
1. Identify the adjustment mechanism (i.e. screws or nuts).

Do it yourself sliding window and door repair.
The Cowdroy range of replacement wheels, rollers and parts are ideal
for those worn, stubborn or dysfunctional sliding windows and doors.
Common symptoms of malfunctioning sliding components include the
following:
Should there be no visible means of adjustment then it may be
possible to lift and remove the window or door without altering
it's position.
2. Loosen adjustment to allow door to lower. (In screw adjustment turn
screw anti-clockwise to lower door. In nut adjustment loosen the nuts
on the rear of the race assembly to lower door then re-tighten slightly
once door has "dropped").
3. With adjustment now loose you should be able to lift and manouvre
the window/door off the track and guides. (See figure a.)
*Excessive noise or grinding sound
*Extensive wear and tear on tracks
*Windows or doors do not slide freely
*Windows or doors feel bumpy when sliding
*Windows or doors are jambed
In some instances, such as glass patio doors, the removal of a
fixed panel may be necessary in order to remove the door.
In most cases these worn parts are simple to replace and maintain.
5. Assess your track for damage and cleanliness. You may want to
clean the track and, in some cases, your track may need a light
sanding to ensure your rollers run as smooth as possible.
The following guidelines may be of some assistance.
It is generally recognised as good maintenance practice to replace
components in sets (e.g. pairs of rollers or guides) in order to retain
lifespan of replacement parts as well as to maximise sliding
performance.
Whether it be sliding flyscreen, patio, security or wardrobe doors, in
the majority of instances the procedure of removing rollers is quite
similar.
4. Rollers can be removed from panels quite easily as most are either
screwed, bolted, clipped or spring loaded.
6. Replace rollers and re-install doors by reversal of the
abovementioned procedures.
7. It may be necessary to adjust rollers in order to ensure correct
operation of latching/locking mechanism if present.
Should you not be confident with any aspect of the above
procedures we recommend you consult a qualified window or
door repairer.

OTHER BRACKETS.
As well as the standard SHELVIT brackets, there are special purpose brackets for angled shelves
and hang rails. These brackets are made to work basically the same as the standard brackets.
ADJUSTABLE ANGLE BRACKETS.
These brackets are often used where angled shelves are required. They are made in two parts, a
lugged backplate and a bracket blade, are rivetted together and are held on the angle by a wingnut

These brackets are used to hold a hanging rail (25mm O.D. tube) which is to support items such as
coat hangers. The brackets are standard 3-lug type in 280mm and 350mm and have a ring welded to

SPECIAL MIRROR STRIPPING.
A special stripping has been developed for use over a mirror back panel. This stripping, R53, has
been designed for use in bars and bathrooms where mirror panels are often used. It is an extruded
aluminium stripping which is available in 2100mm lengths in the stock finishes of Polished Silver,
Polished Gold, Clear (Matt) Anodised and may also be Powdercoated in White, Black, Vanilla and
Grey. Lengths of 1200mm are also available in Polished Silver and Polished Gold.
The standard range of SHELVIT SB200 brackets (and colours) can be used with the R53 as well as
a special Showcase Gold finish which is used with the Polished Gold extrusion. Showcase Gold

Distribution Arrangement
It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce
the following re-structure of SPOS's Shopfitting and
Hardware / DIY supply channels.

As of 1 November, 2009 all current Shopfitting and Hardware
accounts currently held by SPOS will begin to be transferred
over to Cowdroy to manage and service on behalf of SPOS
on a national basis.
Cowdroy brings to this arrangement a depth of experience and history in both the hardware and Shopfitting market
segments complimented by their own range of shelving and storage equipment. Cowdroy has been trading since 1890
and is well versed in the logistical and support requirements relative to the SPOS range of products.
SPOS as one of the oldest and largest supplier of Point of Sale (POS) merchandising in Australia brings to this
arrangement the complete POS package, giving Cowdroy access to:
•Our standard off the shelf POS range, data strip, flip scan hooks, security POS solutions, shelf merchandising,
signage etc.
•Our in-house Creative design team, for multiple one off bespoke creations
•Our Interactive range of products, electronic shelf edge ticketing, digital signage, information kiosk's

MILLENNIUM GONDOLA SYSTEM SET UP
The Cowdroy Gondola System is suitable for many retail and trade
applications including supermarkets, pharmacies, specialty stores,
hardware stores, auto spare part stores, convenience stores, duty
free shops, service stations and newsagencies to name a few.

The robust posts incorporate a 50 x 32mm slotted tube upright and

pitch in the Australian shopfitting industry and is compatible with

TYPICAL BEAM RACK SET UP
Cowdroy Beam Racking is suitable for
many storage and racking applications
including garages, store rooms and
factories. May be used in a single stand
alone bay or in multiple bays joined to
both sides of the ladder frames.

Beam Racking is supplied in components
for DIY assembly and requires no fixing
hardware.
Ladder frames are made from 32 mm Sq
tube with “Top Hat” joining rails. Slotting is
at 40mm pitch - the most common pitch in
the Australian shopfitting industry and is
compatible with many other systems in the
market. Floor fixing plates are welded to the
bottom of the ladder frames for stability.
Joining Beams are made from 50 x 32mm
tube with 3-lug brackets on each end.
Cowdroy Beam Racking may be used with
steel shelves or 18mm MDF shelves.
The system is pre-finished in durable powder
coat. Standard colours include White Lustre,
Vanilla, White, APO Grey and Black.
Other powder coat colours, special sizes and
custom modifications to the Beam Racking
system are available on request.

These terms and conditions of sale will apply to ALL sales from H.M. Cowdroy Pty. Limited unless
they are specifically varied in writing from H.M. Cowdroy Pty. Limited.
TERMS:
Non-Account Customers:
To operate on a “TRADE COUNTER SALE” basis where goods are paid for, in full, prior to goods
leaving the warehouse. Invoice values below $150 (ex GST) will incur a $25.00 surcharge.
Payment methods: cheque, credit card and EFTPOS. Cash not accepted.
Account Customers:
Strictly NETT THIRTY (30) DAYS FROM DATE OF STATEMENT.
H.M. Cowdroy Pty. Limited reserves the right to require payment in advance or cash on delivery
from any customer.

CONDITIONS:
All prices and specifications shown in this price list are subject to change without notice.
4.
Cutting Charges:
Aluminium extrusions are available cut to length into 1/4’s, 1/2’s and 3/4s of the full length listed.
A cutting fee will apply according to the following cutting scale:
0-4 cuts: free of cutting charges
5-24 cuts: $2.00 cutting charge per cut,
25-49 cuts: $1.50 cutting charge per cut,
50+ cuts: $1.00 cutting charge per cut,
Special cut lengths carry additional cutting charges - P.O.A.
5.
Returns will not be accepted after seven (7) days. All returns must have prior authorisation and must
be in good order and condition. Cut to length aluminium extrusions and special orders will NOT BE
ACCEPTED FOR RETURN. Freight must be borne by the customer and tax invoice numbers
must be quoted at all times. Depending on circumstances a processing surcharge may apply.
6.
Damage in transit or goods not manufactured to specification must be notified within 24 hours of
receipt of goods.
7.
Delivery Charges:
a) Orders of $150 (excluding GST) or more are delivered Free Into Store (F.I.S.), in Metropolitan
areas of Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin and Perth.
b) Orders of less than $150 (excluding GST) will be delivered carrying a processing and invoicing
surcharge of $25 (excluding GST) plus a minimum freight charge of $15 (excluding GST).
c) Deliveries outside the Metropolitan areas are delivered carrying an additional freight and
packaging cost to listed prices unless otherwise agreed to by an H. M. Cowdroy representative.
d) Should additional packaging, cases or crates be required then further costs will be incurred.
