Quick Start Guide
Please read this Quick Start Guide before using your CrypTA USB Stick for the first time.

Make sure you have received an email from no-reply.crypta with the subject „CrypTA certificate request
accepted“, which contains your personal initialization data
Run the “CrypTAClientInstall.exe” to install all needed software on your computer. You do not need to change
the settings. Always click “Next”
Plug the CrypTA USB Stick in your computer (Microsoft® Windows® OS required)
Start the CrypTA-Client
Choose „Initialize CrypTA USB Device“
Enter the data set from the email. The fields are case sensitive! Choose your own PIN (numerical)
Follow the instructions displayed by the program
The online initialization can take up to 3 minutes
You have to perform an update of your certificates at least every 90 days. An email reminder is sent two weeks before
the CrypTA Stick gets invalid. To update the CrypTA Stick also use the CrypTA Client and choose “Update CrypTA
USB Device”.
During the use of CrypTA secured applications the stick must remain in the computer running the application!

CrypTA Setup Process:

If there are installed older versions on your PC, remove these versions before starting the CrypTA Setup.
1. Run CrypTAClientInstall.exe and click “Install” to start the installation.

2. CrypTA Client Components
The CrypTA Client contains of three components. After starting the installation, the three components are installed
unattended.
2.1 The Codemeter Runtime is mandatory if you want to decrypt secured PDF documents. It is also needed for using WN
Test Tools inside the WN corporate network without having plugged in a CrypTA Stick.
For a better performance it is recommended to install the runtime on your PC.
2.2 Smart Shelter PDF Reader is an Acrobat Reader® plugin which is used to decrypt secured PDF files you may get from
Wincor Nixdorf.
2.3 The CrypTA Client is used for initialising and updating your CrypTA Stick. This program will be installed in "C:\Program
Files (x86)\Wincor-Nixdorf\CrypTA\CrypTA.exe" on your computer. The entire folder can be copied on the stick as well. So
the update program can be started on every Microsoft Windows® based computer for updates.
3. After copying the CrypTA Client to the hard disk, the installer has completed the installation. A reboot is not necessary.
Finish the installation by click the button “Close”.
4. Start the CrypTA Client by double clicking the desktop symbol:
