Power Electronics 70 series

The Power Electronics trainers are part of the Feedback PowerLab range for the study of Thyristor Control Principles and dc Motor Control (including two and four Quadrant control).

Curriculum is provided in the following main subject areas:

Single and three phase uncontrolled rectification

Single and three phase controlled rectification

Single and three phase motor speed and current control

Zero crossing, burst firing circuits

Four Quadrant control

Single and three phase equipment

dc Motor Control Trainer 70-005

The dc Motor Control Trainer deals with the motor characteristics and parameters in single and three phase thyristor circuits.

Motor speed and current control circuits may be investigated with various types of feedback, including armature voltage, armature current, tachogenerator and a combination of voltage and current,

PI controllers. Four quadrant control can be implemented for continuous and discontinuous current operation in single and three phase circuits .

Thyristor Control Principles 70-002

The Thyristor Control Principles trainer provides extensive training in the principles of thyristor control circuits, and can be used as the basis of a programme, starting with the principles of uncontrolled rectification and simple control using thyristors, progressing through single and three phase controlled rectification and their associated firing circuits.

The characteristics of the various thyristor circuits are studied in conjunction with inductive, capacitive and resistive loads.

Thyristor Control Principles (70-002) and the dc Motor Control Trainer (70-005) may be ordered as a complete package (70-003). An upgrade package (70-004) is also available that extends the

Thyristor Control Principles (70-002) to cover the dc Motor Control curriculum.

Safety is of prime concern. The Power supply and modules include overload protection and optional earth leakage breaker. Double insulated, colour coded, shrouded plug leads provide safe and quick interconnections. All units have the means to be bonded to the supply earth.

The frame is constructed of a fibre-composite material which is electrically safe.
