WARNING
If incorrectly used, this machine can cause severe injury. Those who use
and maintain this machine should be trained in its proper use, warned of its
dangers and should read the entire manual before attempting to set up,
operate, adjust, or service the machine.
When Performance Matters.™
This product is intended for use with 5” x 22” (127 x 559
mm) reels.
! CAUTION
a. Wait for all movement to stop before making any
adjustments or modifications.
b. Allow sufficient time for the unit to cool down.
c. Take this opportunity to thoroughly inspect the
equipment and perform other required maintenance.
Before you install this kit, read the Safety & Operation
Manual to become familiar with the mower, the controls
and proper use of the equipment.
Stay alert for potential hazards and follow all safety
precautions. Read all instructions completely and make
sure you understand them before proceeding with the
assembly.
1. Park the mower on a flat and level surface, fully lower
the cutting units to the ground, engage the parking
brake, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
remove the key.
! WARNING
Before you attempt to clean, adjust, or repair any of this
equipment, disengage all drives, shut down the engine
and allow the unit to cool. Remove the key from the
ignition switch and disconnect the Negative (BLACK)
battery cable to prevent accidental discharge and
potential bodily injuries.
Preparation __________________________________________________________
1. To help in the assembly process and prevent
confusion, completely install each Brush Assembly
before starting on the next reel.
a. Open the carton to inspect and familiarize yourself
with the contents.
b. Keep all components in original carton until ready
for assembly.
2. Remove the reels from the mower, following directions
given in the mower’s Parts & Maintenance Manual.
3. LF-3400 and LF-5225: Remove rear roller scraper (A),
5/16-18 x 3/4” screws (B), 5/16-18 spiralock flange nut
(C), and rear roller zerk bolt (D) from both ends of reel.
Retain for future use. Set rear roller (E) off to the side.
Greens King® IV and G-Plex: Remove rear roller zerk
bolt (D) and set rear roller (E) off to the side.
4. Determine if a Turf Groomer® is installed on the reels.
a. If a Turf Groomer is installed, follow Brush
Assembly with Groomer instructions starting on
Page 3.
b. If a Turf Groomer is not installed, follow Brush
Assembly without Groomer instructions starting on
Page 4.
NOTE: If installing both a Rear Roller Brush Kit and a Turf
Groomer® Kit on the cutting units, install the Turf Groomer
Kit before installing the Roller Brush Kit.

Brush Assembly with Groomer__________________________________________
1. Assemble zerk bolt (F) to eccentric (G), and roller (E).
Repeat for other end of reel.
NOTE: Two different size thread (7/16-20 and 3/8-24) zerk
bolts (F) are supplied with this kit. Match thread on new
zerk bolts (F) to original zerk bolts (D) to determine which
set of bolts to use.
2. Loosely assemble setscrew (H) to each eccentric (G).
Rotate eccentrics so setscrews point towards reel
shaft.
3. Assemble short end of brush shaft (K) to housing (I) as
shown. Secure with spacer (L), one 3/8-16 x 3/4”
screw, lockwasher, and flat washer (M).
4. Slip brush/bearing assembly over zerk bolt and
eccentric on motor end of frame. Secure with 5/16-18 x
1” screw, flat washers, lockwasher, and nut (N). Do not
tighten hardware.
5. Slide remaining housing (I), 1-1/8” spacer (O), spring
(P), key (Q), and pulley (R) onto brush shaft. Secure
with one 3/8-16 x 3/4” screw, lockwasher, and flat
washer (S). Install and tighten setscrew (X).
NOTE: Pulley hub should face towards reel.
6. Secure housing to reel frame with 5/16-18 x 1-3/4”
screw, flat washers (T), spacer (U), rear shield brace
(V), lockwasher, and nut (W). Do not tighten hardware.
7. Place belt (Y) over groomer pulley and brush pulley.

8. Remove 1/4-20 x 3/4” socket head screw (Z) from
bottom of turf groomer belt housing. Assemble front
shield brace (AA) using 1/4-20 x 3/4” screw and
lockwasher (AB). Shield end of brace should be
located inside belt.
9. Assemble shield (AC) to front and rear shield braces (V
and AA) with 1/4-20 x 3/4” screws, lockwasher, and flat
washers (AD). 1/4” spacer (AE) should be used on
front shield brace.
10. Adjust shield as required for proper belt clearance. Belt
should be centered inside shield with equal gap on
both sides.
11. Proceed with Belt / Brush Adjustments.

Brush Assembly without Groomer _______________________________________
1. Remove 1/4” hardware (AF), counterweight (AG), 3/8”
hardware (AH) and spacer (AI) from end of reel.
2. Assemble zerk bolt (F) to eccentric (G) and roller (E).
Repeat for other end of reel.
NOTE: Two different size thread (7/16-20 and 3/8-24) zerk
bolts (F) are supplied with this kit. Match thread on new
zerk bolts (F) to original zerk bolts (D) to determine which
set of bolts to use.
3. Loosely assemble setscrew (H) to each eccentric (G).
Rotate eccentrics so setscrews point towards reel
shaft.
4. Assemble short end of brush shaft (K) to housing (I) as
shown. Secure with spacer (L), one 3/8-16 x 3/4”
screw, lockwasher, and 13/16 x 3/8” flat washer (M).
5. Slip brush/bearing assembly over zerk bolt and
eccentric on motor end of frame. Secure with 5/16-18 x
1” screw, flat washers, lockwasher, and nut (N). Do not
tighten hardware.

6. Slide remaining housing (I), 1-1/8” spacer (O), spring
(P), key (Q), and pulley (R) onto brush shaft. Secure
with one 3/8-16 x 3/4” hex head screw, lockwasher, and
flat washer (S). Install and tighten setscrew (X).
NOTE: Pulley hub should face away from reel.
7. Secure housing to reel frame with 5/16-18 x 1-3/4”
screw, flat washers (T), rear shield brace (V), spacer
(U), lockwasher, and nut (W). Do not tighten hardware.
8. Assemble 7/8” spacer (AJ), key (AM), and pulley (AK)
to reel shaft. Secure with 3/8-24 x 1” screw,
lockwasher, and flat washer (AL).
9. Place belt (Y) over groomer pulley and brush pulley.
10. Assemble front shield brace (AA) using 1/4-20 x 3/4”
screw and lockwasher (AB). Shield end of brace
should be located inside belt.
11. Assemble shield (AC) to front and rear shield braces (V
and AA) with 1/4-20 x 3/4” screws, lockwashe,r and flat
washers (AD).
12. Adjust shield as required for proper belt clearance. Belt
should be centered inside shield with equal gap on
both sides.

Belt / Brush Adjustments ______________________________________________
1. Push down on both housings (I) an equal amount until
belt is tight. Tighten hardware (N, T, and W). Do not
overtighten belt.
a. When pushing down on housings make sure the
brush remains parallel with the roller.
b. Check alignment of brush with roller.
2. Adjust the amount of contact between the brush and
roller by rotating the eccentric adjusters (G).
a. The brush must be adjusted so that all bristles just
touch the roller an equal amount along the entire
length of the roller.
b. When correct adjustment is obtained securely tighten
setscrews (H).
