Just unimaginable for most young people! The wienXtra-medienzentrum invites 12- to 22-year-olds to experiment creatively with different media. Radio, video, press, TV, VJing – workshops and visits to local media outlets introduce young people to the technical and creative basics of media work. Young media artists who want to create their own projects will be provided with cameras, audio equipment, or video and audio editing tools. By organising events such as the videoundfilmtage (video and film days), an annual short film festival, open film screenings and music and VJ acts, the medienzentrum creates public spaces for creative young people and offers an opportunity for networking and exchange. medienzentrum also offers an excellent educational programme for those working with children and young people, including a beginners’ course in media education, a BarCamp entitled “Medienbildung JETZT!” (Media Education NOW!) and much more. Once a year they can present their work at the “podium.wien” music competition.
